yea i don't know why it came out that way. probably because the flash was on. in real life you have to hold the laptop just right in the light and even then you can't see the discoloration on the track pad. I'm going to get some cleaning solution and give it a once over.

mine did the same thing when I took pictures of it, kind of normal...

I'm very interested though, a good friend of mine is finally trying to make the switch to apple. Any applecare left over?

Any applecare left over?

Even if there isn't any applecare left over, the 14" and last 12" ibooks were the ammong the most reliable laptops produced. I mean, sure, applecare is great (and I recommend it), but you're better off picking up late revisions like this as compared to most early revisions which are prone to have more problems. Hope that helps.

no, its just over a year old and didn't buy the extension. i didn't see any point to it. if i haven't had any problems with it yet, i wont. i have a REV. A PM G5 and it had problems from the get-go. two trips to a store for repairs and its bullet proof now. and its almost three years old.

how long do you have to renew the apple care?

I know they're great machines. I've been using my 12" 1.2 for the past 6 months, no issues and I somewhat beat the hell out of it sadly enough. I work for comcast and it takes some spills while I'm driving, so they're tough, but it's always a selling point.

Either way, I'll talk to my friend and see if we can work something out!

Those are good specs at a good price. I don't know what apple is thinking with their refurb prices on ibooks

For the iBook, you're SOL, after a year has passed they won't let you add AppleCare to it.

For the PMG5, AFAIK AppleCare is not renewable, you get your 3 years and then you are done.

well we bought an extension for the G5, and i did get a letter from apple about the warranty about my ibook. I didn't read it, but you can buy an extension, but that was about a month ago. But like i said, i haven't had any problems with it. so i wouldn't worry at this point.
