Looks like the going rate on eBay is $400-500. I'd like to add that I find this utterly ridiculous. The Wii is NOT the PS3; no one said anything about a shortage of orders/quantity. I have a feeling that all of these people paying these prices really think they won't be able to get their hands on one (like the PS3 situation), when in reality, they could walk down to their nearest Best Buy come release day and pick one up no problem for 1/2 the price they are going for on eBay.

sadly enough, it would be amazing to capatalize on it. i figure (sorry its harsh, but its really common sense) that if the ppl that buy these dont know that there will be tons of them, its thier loss. dont jump the gun!

I understand what you are saying, but I think it'd be a bad move on his part if he tries to buy it to profit off the resell value. The reason? By the time his auction ends (if he puts it on eBay), it will be at least sometime in the middle of next week. By that time, people will understand that there are plenty of Wii's to go around.

Thus, they may pay a *bit* more than what it costs to buy one in store, but when you figure in eBay and Paypal fees, in combination with the time required to post, take pictures, & monitor the auction, not to mention ship it, I think he might end up not making much money at all; if any. He could actually end up in the red. Just my $.02, and word of warning...

Well at least he'll have a nice console to play with. :D

I'll just get mine at my local retailer next week, because...unlike Sony, Nintendo knows how to prepare for the holiday season.

OK, for everyone wondering I am looking at $500 for the thing plus shipping. obviously I will not open it and i will send it out monday. I do not need the money before I get it but the person that agrees to buy it will need to paypal it to me by monday. I will figure out shipping price and let the buyer know the total sunday.

These will be going for about 800 tomorrow (just my opinion) so this is a good price if you can't get one.

Everyone whos waiting in line for at my store has one guaranteed for them. :)

These Wii's are not going to be selling well because Nintendo are shipping loads more before christmas unlike the PS3 that said MAYBE they'll send another load. There'll be plenty of Wii's to go around and before Xmas you'll find them in the stores. Unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo wants to sell as many as possible this winter holiday... To the original poster I wish you the best of luck at that price but I'd drop it big time...

My local mall has 400 units alone (Ebgames + Sears + Gamestop)...

The best buy down the street has 100, the Circuit City around me as 150, the local target has 80, and the a bit out of my 5 mile radius, a BestBuy has 150+ units....

Waiting in line? Ha! Have fun waiting for something Ill be walking in for :P

If everyone thinks there is a shortage and buys them up to sell them on eBay. There won't be many to go around for everyone else. Similar to PS3, while that was a very limited launch people still bought them up to sell.

There were over 30,000 on eBay today. People are in the "buy new consoles and resell them for lots of money" mindset.

The Walmart down the street had a line and they are all sold out already. They had 30.

With that said, I preordered one for myself and sold it when I saw them going for so much.

I sold my Wii preorder for $610

I bought a Wii on eBay today (because we are sold out around here) for $375
Which included:
The New Wii
Zelda TP
Extra Wiimote

Based on my tax rate here that is only $10 over retail, and after shipping and paypal/ebay fees depending on the sellers tax rate he broke even or lost some money.

It is kind of awesome because the Console alone in most auctions is going for over $400. I got a great deal. :D

wow. that is a great deal. let me know if the seller went through with the auction and sold it to you. it wouldn't surprise me if the SELLER tries to renege on his offer. i bet he didn't expect to LOSE money on a wii
