i went to open iTunes and this dialog box poped up and said that my iTunes Library was damaged! all of my music and playlists were gone! i looked through my folders and found out that all of my music was still on my hard drive and i imported all of the music into the blank iTunes Library but all of my playlists and song playcounts are gone!!! does anyone know how to fix a damaged itunes library?!

You don't. You usually end up having to put all the music back into iTunes and re-creating all your playlists.

Do you have a folder "Previous iTunes Libraries" inside your iTunes folder? Is there a chance to use this file?

Every now and then I make a backup of the iTunes Library files, but the above mentioned folder was made be iTunes itself.

Your signature says you have a 20 GB iPod. Don't you have your playlists on your iPod?
