What exactly does this do during a game? Does it pause the game and bring up some kind of universal menu or turn the game off and return to the startup (reset button?).
I'm very curious about this :)

It brings up a menu that lets you go back to the main Wii Menu at any point.

Go back to the Wii menu, or Reset Software.

Go back to the Wii menu, or Reset Software.
Or configure certain options on the remote, most importantly the volume of the built-in speaker.
Also, was reading VC manuals and it sounds like you can create standby/resume points at any time during VC play by hitting Home and going back to the main menu. These disappear once you resume the game - BUT, it sounds like they're persistent even if you power down the console! Not sure if this applies to Wii games too, but I recall reading somewhere that you could be playing, press Home to back out & check your message board, then resume play at the same spot.

It turns the Wii into a small, portable home, kinda like a tent.
Would have been great for the 24 hours I spent in line. :p

You can't use the console and all its fancy features till you get it silly. Otherwise there would be no point of the line in the first place. :p

Good! I really liked the Home 360 thing. I'm hoping the Wii doesn't have the delay the 360 menu has. If there was any way of speeding up them "blades" I jolly well would :o

Yeah, the 360's menu is choppy and delayed. The Wii's pops up instantly, no choppiness or delay. It also has some Wiimote settings available.
