Couldn't they just have donated the money to charity or something?

LMAO! That. Is. Class.

How this doesn't get a reaction from people and SmashmyPS3 does I will never know, but hey, I guess thats what makes the world go round. :)

I wonder if it still plays ridge racer ;)

Seriousness - is it a real ps3 case or a re-creation of one ? Hard to tell...

I bet it is like the cases in all the Koisks in the game stores. The PS3 you see in the glass case is not the one you are playing on, it is underneath, hidden. It has stickers that picture where the USB ports and such would be and look like.

Fantastic..

Play Resistance, watch a Blu-Ray movie, cook some bratwursts.
It's the TOTAL package!

LMAO. That just reminded me of something we did last Xmas at work when the 360s were in such short supply. We had an empty case, it was just a mock up of one, it weighed the same and stuff, but it was just so people could see the size/weight, etc, etc. We used to throw it to each other and drop it by 'accident' and it would fly apart (Well, I say fly apart, the front panel thingy would come off) and my you would get some funny looks, some gasps and even some 'Oh My God' shouts... All Good fun.

The "real WTF" here is: who spends $2500 on a limited piece of electronics just to make a gag, and then only cooks shriveled hot dogs and odd pieces of pork on it? Bring out the dry-aged filet mignon!

After spending that kind of money they cant afford the filet mignon ;) :D

That is awesome. I'd bet it's made from one of the fake PS3's all over the place (all the kiosks are fake; the actual PS3's are underneath the stands).

Seriously? Where did you get this information? It's no big deal, but I'm still curious. :p

Basically, Sony can't afford show models, so they made plastic cases with stickers for where the ports should be, running demo footage on DVD players hidden nearby

It's the ultimate "all senses" gaming experience. Take down some cops in Grand Theft Auto with the flamethrower, while throwing a few pork sausages on the FryStation3. Get the sights, the sounds AND the smells! ;)

Oh okay. I just never knew that. You know what, though? I think I recall seeing a USB port that looked a lot like a sticker. I didn't think much of it at the time, though.

I checked.

Go to any of the PS3 demo stations. If you look closely, you'll notice that:
A) The PS3 you see is not actually plugged in.
B) The PS3 you see has no actual ports on the back; just a picture of ports printed on the back of it. No actual openings.

If you lean down underneath the stand and look through the vent holes you'll see a large black square shape, obviously a PS3.

Not true; there is an ACTUAL PS3 in there behind the fake plastic case, as evidenced by the fact that you can play Motorstorm. However, I assume the PS3 is inside because of heat...the inside of the stand is well ventillated, while the fake PS3 is in a plastic case (which would probably get VERY hot).
