Places to buy Macs in UK, other than apple

Looking to buy a black Macbook ASAP .. but where, other than apple, sell these online? I found CanCom .. damned expensive though!!

PC World et al only seem to have older models ..

Apple is the cheapest and least hassle. How bout going into a store to pick one up? That way you dont have to wait for it to be delivered.
 
John Lewis? I read lots of posts of people happy with their purchases from JL.

I am sure that you have one close by somewhere. It's gotta be better that travelling all the way to Central London or wherever else they are located. The only down side is that they wont be CTO, just plain vanilla boxes.
 
Really, just call up Apple and order by phone.

You get the latest tweaks if any and shipping time is no big deal and you can customize your system just the way you want.

If you prefer not to use credit cards, set up your purchase for a direct
wire transfer from your bank to Apple's wire account.

Just be sure to include your "Web Order Number" they give you
on the bank's wire transcript.

Apple receives your payment as cash the same day if you go to your bank early enough and Apple processes your order as pre-paid so it's faster.
 
John Lewis sell them online too, as does Play.com and Amazon.co.uk, though they aren't available yet. Microwarehouse have them and are 4* rated on Froogle (PCWorld and MacWarehouse are only 2* rated)
 
theres loads of small resellers around the country, theres at least 3 not too far from me.

Computer warehouse have always been good, bought 2 machines from them, quite a while ago now though (350Mhz G3 powermac 😀)

And you could always have a ride on the train up to london, depends where on the south coast you are of course

John lewis tend to sell at the same price as the apple store, or pretty close but it takes them an age to get the new hardware in, my local one only just got C2D MBP's in...


My last 2 macs have come direct from the apple store via TNT, both packages were a bit mangled, all taken care of by apple so no worries, but next time i'll be going into london and picking it up direct.
 
john lewis, they are amazing, and you can buy instore if you are concerned about using cards on the net.

also, they give you an extra years warrenty for free...nice touch!
 
I've had problems buying on-line from Apple. They've just lost my Macbook. They've also always been slow to deliver for me, even when they don't lose the item.

I'd go with John Lewis or Computer Warehouse.
