There is definitely something seriously wrong with that G5, my old G4 booted 10.4 MUCH faster then that thing.

I've never owned a G5 but I assume they shouldn't be that slow. I went right from my G4 to Intel so im not so sure

Wow that iMac G5 was sure slow. My PM G5 definitely boots up faster than that, probably somewhere between the Intel start up and the G5 start up. If I really wanted to be geeky I could boot up my PM when they boot up the iMacs in the videos and I can see the comparison more accurately. 😎
But, as other's have said, something doesn't seem quite right with that G5 iMac's start up time. I know the Intels are faster, but that's really a BIG difference....

i remember these things when the intelmacs were released. thing is, i too, am guilty of having too much time on my hands.
unlike these guys, i don't also have too much money! once i get some *dough* i will post the most ultimate race.
i'll pit G5 v. CD iMac v. C2D iMac v. Mac Pro v. iMac g4 v. my own windows box
each computer will be turned on simultaneously. there will 12 isights set up for multiple viewing angles and i will make a dvd that will utilize all of the technology. then i will youtube a documentary about making it all!

Actually, these videos were very informative.
These "boot up race" videos were around before I purchased my 17" CD iMac: In FEBRUARY. They were intended to help convince IBM users to switch over to the Intel architecture because of their superiority. Back in february they were fascinating, believe me. The speed was incredible.
