When I restart or log in the OSX splash screen comes up and 'Waiting for network initialization' seems to stay up forever. The rest of the startup process goes quickly after that. I don't have a network. Is there something that I have enabled that makes the OS look for this? Also towards the end of the splash screen 'Please turn off personal web sharing and restart' appears for a few seconds and then the process completes. Everything is humming along fine; I just wondered why these appear. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have accidentally turned on personal web sharring. To turn it off go to System Preferences click on the sharring panel. Then make sure you have all your services unchecked. Unless of course you are file sharring with another computer.
