OK so I am a switcher - got a new macbook on the way (cant frickin wait :P) but i am going to get an external screen to use with it at home. 19" Widescreen looks like the way to go for me - just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for brands to go for or brands to avoid etc. Or any good places to get them cheap in the uk.
Found a few that seem ok

Anyone have any thoughts on any of these or any others?
Cheers

A lot of them don't have DVI input. I'd say that was very important in this day and age.
I've been looking at this (it's 20inch WS a bit more than you maybe wanted to spend):

the acer is a pretty good bargain but the 19" ws displays remind me of the 13" ws. i would def rather get a 20" ws its not that much more and you get more real estate.

The maximum resolution the macbook can support on an external display is 1440x900 I believe. Most of the 20" monitors seem to be more than that.
edit: hmm looks like I'm wrong it says 1920 by 1200 on the spec sheet

1920x200 actually (see the Macbook specifications page on apple.com).
20" widescreens have a 1680x1050 resolution, a 4:3 20" screen would have 1600x1200. So both would work.

The acer is a really good deal, They also make a 22 inch Wide Screen that is a great deal. I ended up buying a 22 inch Viewsonic for a little bit more but I think it's a better monitor.

I got a Hanns-G widescreen a few weeks ago for my MBP - it has a DVI input, which was my reason for choosing it over the Acer. It cost about £120 from cclonline.co.uk - not sure if they have any in stock at the moment. The stand is a bit pants to look at but mines on a vesa mount so I don't use it.

How do you like it? I was considering getting one from TigerDirect tonight.

Wow, this one looks good for the money - 22" widescreen with DVI input for £235. Shame they aren't in stock and they don't know when they will be
