external drive icon in the finder

for my external harddrive, it would usually show up or mount into the finder (under the Macintosh HD). i accidentally removed the external from the sidebar. how would i go about bringing the external harddrive icon to show up everytime i plug my harddrive into the USB?

Drag the icon from your desktop into a finder window.
