Bring on Everton! We're relying on fatigue (both scoring fatigue after the last three games frenzy and from playing games every other day) and our own form, thank you. ;)
Though I'm actually a bit scared after yesterday's performance. Only the Birmingham players looked tired at the end of the game...

True, I have to give Everton some props for their current form - is it 7 games and no loss? Not bad considering how they played at the start of the season.
Now excuse me while I go and wash my mouth out *cough* "props to Everton" *cough*.... and knew that'd repeat on me......... *bleurrrggghhhhh* :D

Much like Cpt. Darlings last diary entry my first sentiment is just: "Bugger"!
I had hoped this was the match where we would really be contenders for spots in Europe next year... :(
On the other hand: If this contributes in any way to making ManU have to fight for a CL spot, then it might have been worth it... ;)

Sadly, rain stopped play down on the Devon coast. I was hoping we'd take ourselves another 3 points towards safety.
Easy to see why the match was called off if you take a look at the Torquay site. They could have done it before the County fans all piled down the M6/M5 though.

After that performance I don't think Phil Dowd should be allowed to ref a Merseyside derby again. Ever.
As an objective watcher who comes from a sport where the officials (we call them umpires) actually have some control over the game, I thought that he did a good job. On match of the day they talked about derby games getting more emotional and feisty and said that referees had to understand that - to my mind he did and he tried to control it. Fact is if you foul you deserve the card, and if cards are being given the hint is to check your behaviour, if the players aren't big enough to do that then they shouldn't be earning stupid amounts each week. Gerrard could have had a straight red for the challenge so he's no complaints. The other red seemed more debatable but the referee was largely right with that one (remember he only has teh one chance to see it). Ferguson's yellow (as an example that I can recall) looked justified and was equally a good spot as it came after teh ball had been played.
To my mind football all too often of late looks increasingly like an out of control sport played by petulent children. They made the referees professional in an effort to improve them now they need to empower them by giving them greater control over the players. More players need to be booked for dissent, freekicks need to be moved forward (like in rugby and hockey) if objectiosn remain and a sin bin wouldn't be a bad idea either. Dowd did well yesterday and stands out as a referee who tries to control situations and obviously talks with players - derby games need people like theat who aren't afraid to reach in their pockets and discipline the ill-mannered, overpaid hooligans who seem to think that it is their right to do whatever they like.
Looking forward to seeing Gerrard clean his boots with Cahills shirt.
Must have happened somewhere down the tunnel because i missed it on the hi-lights!

Mittrawnuruodo I've got to ask... as a Norwegian how come you support the Blues?English football is very strong in Norway. In part because Norwegian television "always" has send from the English league. The last couple of years the matches have been moved to a subscription only channel, but as I was growing up "Tippekampen", the main match Saturday at 4 o'clock (3PM English time), was an institution... :)
So, most Norwegians have a favourite club in England. I didn't had a favourite club before I was 8, I had just a favourite player: Kevin Keegan (the rest of the team was totally uninteresting, then as now :D). So in the mid-70s I actually had a Liverpool shirt with a home made '7' on the back (this was before the age of merchandising, so you only got "clean" shirts). Then in '78 he was sold to Hamburg, and since Bundesliga is totally uninteresting, I needed a favourite team. Someone else to follow.
Everton had a 100 year anniversary in 1978. And because of that a documentary was made, showing the history of the club. And seeing the rich history it just made sense to pick the all time best team in England, maybe not in titles, but in years in the top division and points on the all time table (a spot they still have but that I fear we're going lose to Liverpool after this season :(). Then there was Dixie Dean... ;) :D

I get it now...most Norwegian's I've met seem to swing to the Red half of Stanley Park, so I was intrigued to know how you went so wrong!:D
Dixie Dean... when I was a kid my best friend was a mad Everton fan, from a family of mad Everton fans. At this point I was completely a-football (took me until I got to uni before I really got into it) and got bored to tears about Dixie Dean. He knew every fact there is know to man about the man - and he loved to tell people. Its how I developed an innate dislike for Dixie!
Plus the Dixie Dean bar in Liverpool is one hell of a rough looking dive! :p

Saw that on MOTD2 last night - don't blame him for being impressed. Fowler plays well with a good team, and at Liverpool he gets that support so he can shine. If he gets two more before the end of the season it would be outrageous not to give him a contract. Use him as a utility striker/impact sub, but just keep the boy Home :D
I agreed with Hansen in that we need a fast centre forward and another defender though... I'd say Morientes will be joining Cisse on the transfer list come season end....

I thought I was going to miss the match as I was at a friends birthday in somerset.... low and behold 4 other Reds where there! Good match, shame about the goal against us as it was just down to an out and out defensive error. One minute I was screaming at Garcia on the TV for missing chance after chance - next he scores! With the sheer volume of attempts he had that game, something had to give.
Any respect I have for "The Special One" is all but gone. If he actually admits he was outplayed - just once - it would be nice. A very very poor looser.
Looking forward to the Millenium Stadium.... again!

Anyone know why Garcia was sent off, I only saw it once from one angle, to me it looked like Luis slid in on Mullins and then got shoved for it. Red for both doesn't seem right, anything else in it? Hmm apparently they both raise there arms and a kerfuffle occured 'violent conduct.'
Anyway more annoyed that Sky TV didn't advertise on there programme guide or in there mag that there would be coverage of this game so I only saw the last 6 mins... (was watching the Champions league match on SS1. grrr)
Looking forward to the cup final.
3 points behind Manure but they have a game in hand, but then thy have to beat Chelsea, Middlesbrough, Charlton. Whereas we meet Aston Villa and Portsmouth.

General concensus here is that it was a bit of handbags, but didn't need a pair of reds. Both players have apologised to each other and the ref, so hopefully they will be allowed to be in the FA Cup Final.

they both deserved a red card, especially in "todays game".
Garcia looked to haved elbowed Mullins in the back, intentionally, and Mullins retaliated. both at fault, equally in my book.
such a shame as there was not one sign of a yellow card prior to that, and Garcia had only just come on a couple of minutes earlier too!
hopefully they'll both be allowed to play the Final, but it works to the Reds advantage if not i guess, purely because of our bigger squad.

Not a bad assessment. I think quality showed in the goals scored - the quality of LFC goals were sublime (crouches was not actually offside either) and west ham had 1 own goal 1 keeper screw up and 1 misshit cross.. not saying they didnt play well etc

You are dead right in your assessment of stevie G and him not making our team.
Did people not watch the frikken everton derby!
We have some world class players in our team, and that has shown time and time again in the league this year.
Stevie Gerrard stood up and was counted yesterday. Just like garcia was in the last four games of the European Cup winning side, just like owen did in the FA Cup winning side of 2001 and reina did in the pen shootout.
the way i see it is - We gifted them two goals (one from Carra, a truely world class CB and one from reina - who has just won the golden gloves) and they scored a misshit cross - on another day none of those would have gone in, but im glad they did, because it showed liverpool have real class and great mental strength.

Well, I thought it was a good game from a neutral point of view – some of the recent FA Cup finals have been a little disappointing entertainment wise. Granted, Liverpool's goals may have been better quality but on the other hand it was their defensive errors that led to West Ham's first two.
It was one of those games though where you really had to feel for whichever team came out as the losers – it was clear that both sets of players had given it their all, and there were a lot of people suffering from cramp and knocks out there. Actually, Rick Parry suggested (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/4769653.stm) after the game that the authorities might look at allowing a fourth substitution after a match goes beyond the regulation 90 minutes...

Personally, I think Kuyt will be Morientes' replacement.
However, Coming in to replace Cissé is Graig Bellamy - Who is undoubtedly one of the best strikers in the premiership in terms of talent but comes with some baggage. He is a boyhood red and supports the club so I can't see anything other than success - we also got the £15m rated striker for just £6m because of a clause in his contract.
He will terrorise Europe's and the premierships top defenses next season. Can't wait to see him unvailed today.

You can't count Robbie and Stevie Mac in the same bracket as Bellamy! (Many because I've had a drink with the above 3 and a certain Mr McAteer back in '96 - one of my claims to fame:D). Calamity always looked a sedate chap to me. Particularly when dealing with crosses......:p
I always put Bellamy in a similar bracket to Bowyer et al - I think though that may well have to do with the whole Newcastle buying the Bad Boys thing.
No dispute on Souness though;)

Bellamy is nowhere near the likes of Bowyer. Bowyer beats up his own team mates whilst on the pitch!
I've been out with fowler was a right sod when he was younger... I mean come on - snorting the touch line!
Bellamy really isnt that bad, he just clashed with that souness fella you mentioned ;)

Thing is, the toffees hate him for it, but if bellamy did it to use we would hate him, if he did it FOR us... we would love him... just how it works.
Bellamy to score more than shevchenko this season.

That could well be interesting... Bellamy did well last year considering Blackburn have a single talented midfielder.... with Garcia, Alonso and Stevie "The G'vnor" Gerrard... it could be closer than I ever thought....
If he pans out, I may yet recant my initial views on the man!

Some photos of our first 4 new signings this summer. The new training kit looks really nice.. I'm sure the actual new kit will be just as nice (they are dark grey btw - some look blue but are really grey)
Click their names to watch a clip of them
Craig Bellamy
(Video 1, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QEh2H1jhEJ0&search=bellamy)Video 2) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3_i6dw9eWV4&search=bellamy)
He seems to have grown a neck. He is stupidly fast and amazingly talented.. was once talked in terms of a 25-30 million move to AC Milan.... the only thing that has ever let him down is his attitude - which seems to be behind him now... also a boyhood supporter)
http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1448/indexphp0bd.jpg
Mark Gonzaléz
(Video 1, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=MJAfqY0_FqU&search=gonzalez) Video 2) (www.liverpoolvideos.com/downloads/gonzalez.mov)
Fantastic player that has been playing stunningly in spain for two years and he is so quick that he will be one of, if not the fastest player in he premiership

Brazillian left back, fast, skillful and a solid defender - on a free from velencia. he was a regular under rada when he was the manager there and won a league title there... quality player
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/images4/060706_newplayerstraining_4.jpg
Gabriel Paletta
Very young defender, very very tough - typical argentine defender... pacey and a brilliant defender who is a proven success in one on the worlds hardest leagues with banfield)

Joaquin hasn't impressed me yet, he didn't feature much in the world cup nor when Liverpool played Betis in the CL.

Rafa has stated he doesn't want him and rick parry has said it isn't happening. That said, he is a terrific player but will be of to real madrid.
Bellamy will hopefully turn out to be a great striker.
I heard something about bellamy that comes from a source inside the club (non world cup playing 1st team player) and that he is a great lad that is unbelievable fast and looks brilliant. Which we all know he is.
I wouldn't shed too many tears if Crouch and Fowler left as long as they were replaced by better strikers.
Crouch is a vital member of the squad (Rafa wouldn't have paid so much for him otherwise) he holds the ball up better than anyone in europe at the moment and is brilliant in pressure matches. chips in with a few goals too.
Fowler will get a shedload next season comin off the bench.
We will buy one more striker before the deadline, a main striker (crouch and fowler will be rotated and subs) probably Kuyt who has an unbelievable strike rate at his club.

For some reason I went into this game convinced we'd win. Don't know why, but it just made sense. The team is looking good, and given time... well we'll see if The Special One will be made to rue his words. On a serious note, fans on the LFC forums are called for Reina to be dropped because of his blunders so far this season. Some are calling for Carra to be dropped too.

Carragher cannot be dropped, he's the heart and soul of the LFC defence, just as important, IMO, as Gerrard is on the midfield.
As for Reina, well, the "clumsiness" of last game was at a point where it didn't really matter, and I don't see any goalkeepers doing many of those sort of things during a season, so I think he'll be sharpened in the next couple of games...

Full time 3-2, well done for holding on but we shouldn't have had to after a 3-0 lead.

....Arsenal looks to overhaul us in the leauge, just one point behind, and they are on form right now. I think we have to take points from Man U and Arsenal in our matches with them if we want to stay in 3rd.
I'm more interested in the relegation battles though, the title is all but sealed. I think Wigan may go down and one of the bottom three could survive.

So what are you guys more embarrassed by the fact that Craig Bellamy tried to injure John Arne Riise by hitting his legs with a golf club, or that Benitez basically just gave Bellamy a slap on the hand by just fining him and putting him in the starting 11 against Barca.
Let's be honest what Bellamy did was assult and should not be tolerated. How many times has Bellamy done something to kill the image of football. He is now the Tonya Harding or football.

RE: the training bust-up: as far as I'm concerned, they should let Bellamy go if he really attacked Riise's legs with a golf club. That is just unacceptable. I don't think Liverpool really needs him anyway.
But maybe the tabloids are blowing it out of proportion - if 15 players got fined it was obviously something beyond just Riise and Bellamy. My guess is he fined the players for getting wasted more than anything else.
Do any of you guys in the US (or elsewhere) listen to the World Soccer Daily podcast?

Im sure the tabloids hyped it up a little more than it really was, but it was Bellamy so nothing would surprise me.
I do listen to World Soccer Daily, I also watch Steven and Nick on FFF, and I can get a bit tired of them on the phone in. But for the most part they are good, the only annoying thing is callers that try to call in and ask REALLY simple questions and make them complex. I mean if they just read the headlines (not even the articles) they would have their answers and I wouldnt have to listen to them.

I love hearing Nick and Steven rant about Landycakes and all things dealing with US soccer. Some of their regular callers are freaking annoying, and others (like Lawrence "the Gooner") are entertaining. I also like their stand-in guy Howard, even if he is a Man U supporter...

Momo had a blinder tonight. Bellamy's completely unselfish pass to Riise made the second goal.
Have to say that the referee was absolutely shocking. What the hell was Agger's yellow card about. He was far too protective of the players and just got things completely wrong. It was like Liverpool were playing against 12 men.
Hope Momo recovers quickly as he is top notch.
The match would have been great if it weren't for the ref.
Also did anyone see that Barca fan/steward/photographer who gobbed at Gerrard.
I would also like to say to all the Man U fans out there and that i hope everyone is all right and that the truth is seen. Man U were treated appallingly by Lillie and in my view Lillie should be knocked out of the tournament for their behaviour and they way they treated the Man U fans.

Was trying so hard to get tickets for the final, in the end it would've cost be in the region of £2000, just can't afford that.
Went to the Charlton game, poor Padelli way too nervous on his debut. We played shockingly but suppose it is good to get it out of their system. Major plus though as soon as Kewell came on for Bolo the quality immediately shot up. Kewell was on fire, had something to prove and boy did he. If only God was on the pitch when the penalty was awarded, at anfield in front of the Kop would have been an amazing send off. (Lets hope he gets one in the Champions League Final)
Good to see Dudek at half time, despite recent form he has done us proud.
And finally was a sad sad day to say goodbye to God, my childhood hero, not afraid to say that a tear or two was shed as he waved goodbye. We will all miss you Robbie.

We outclassed them but football is football. I am pleased with the way we played against them, can anyone say Kaka played like Man U let him. I forgot he was on the pitch. I think this will serve us well for the future, showed that we are a top side competing in one of the top competitions, ill help us draw top players for the future. The expereince is priceless, Gerrard will never want to feel what he felt tonight ever again along with everyone else out there.
2 years ago we showed how good and bad we are and got the prise. Tonight we weren't rewarded. In years to come we will win again, it is in our blood.
I am absolutely proud of our side and pleased with the way the played. Pennant did extremely well, does anyone know if the Curtis Pennant from Nottingham is any relation to Jermaine, too much of a coincidence to not be. If it is then that just adds to his performance because it must be so hard to hear that a relative (10 years old) is lost and know they have to play on. There was even an announcement in the second half.
Think Bellamy is out for next season, he would've played if Benitez was planing on keeping he be it is the experience that money can't buy and Benitez wouldn't waste it on someone he is planning on selling.
Well done lads, you did us proud.

Also the ref was guilty of listening to the Milan players especially regarding Mascherano's yellow card. The ref clearly did not like the challenge but he gave the "no more" warning to him. Then after some Milan players spoke to the ref Mascherano got a yellow card.

Yeah, yet more of the EPL clubs doing great work for their national team. You think Rafa has been talking to AW?
Good player mind you, very good. Worth 27Million? Not for me. Is anyone though?
Torres is probably going to flop and this is coming from a Liverpool supporter. Sure he is an improvement and will most likely add something different but that was said about Kuyt (big heart but not going to get close to 20 a season) and Bellamy (just isn't good enough).
Torres needs to score at least 20 goals in his first season (unlikely) to justify his inflated 27.5 million pound transfer. The odds are against him because he has never scored more than 20 goals a season, he needs to adapt, Rafa will probably rotate him a lot. Fernando Torres might be the next Fernando Morientes - great player but sh*t in England.

Pictures of the new stadium design released. Glad to see the comments surrounding the Kop. Full story here (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/newstadium/)
Liverpool Football Club today unveiled stunning new designs for their stadium in Stanley Park, coinciding with the submission of the official planning application to Liverpool City Council.
Scheduled to open in 2010, the 60,000 seat stadium has been designed to allow for future expansion which could see the capacity increased to the high seventies dependent on improvements to the local transport infrastructure.
The central importance of the Kop has also been recognised with a hugely increased capacity to 18,000 seats in a single tier stand.

Pictures of the new stadium design released...I can't make my mind up on this one... I think the interior shot looks pretty good, but I'm not keen on the exterior at all – the south-east view, for example, looks like it's got a big chunk missing out of it. In saying that, at least they're looking towards doing something a bit different, as opposed to some of the rather bland identikit stadiums we've seen pop up in recent years.
I think as well it's pretty obvious that the designs are at a very early stage – the final design may very well end up significantly different from these renders.

I agree with Jaffa here... I'm not sure about the design yet, but if they keep the greenery in Stanley Park, I'm inclined to give it the nod. The original design was very very generic (could have been the Emirates Stadium) and safe, the new design pushes things forward, and I'm all for that.
However, if its been based on what the designers are turning out in the States that just plain lazy... this is football not the NFL.
Still, I'm about 60/40 in favour... will be interesed to see what everyone thinks when I head back up to visit the folks...

From a personal point of view, Hull’s stadium is in parkland and it’s a great setting, it really sets the building off well – it looks great emerging above the trees as you approach it.
Do you have any idea if they’re actually planning on keeping the parkland around the new ground, then? I suppose they’re going to need some pretty hefty car parking facilities for a 60,000+ seater, which could potentially gobble quite a bit of green space up... I’m not familiar with Liverpool or Stanley Park in particular so I don’t know how much space they have to play with?

One right here! :D
Dunno about Anderson though Jaffa. I knew about the loan, but a signing is news to me. Will ask one who knows more than I...
The new stadium looks pretty damn great, especially if it maintains the surrounding greenery of Stanley Park. Glad The Kop is going to be maintained, but they would have been mad to remove The Twelfth Man. :D
Yay some real scousers:P
I'd be interested to hear what Liverpool fans think of the new design - I think it looks dreadful. The original plans for New Anfield were far superior to this. I have to say that I prefer Everton's new stadium. :o
To be honest, I prefer the more simple, boxy design of Anfield. From the outside at least, in pictures it not exactly "pretty."

Anyone watching the game today vs Porto? I have a feeling it will be a 0-0 or 1-1 draw, although I wouldn't mind a win of course, Porto are currently top of the table in The Portuguese Liga, played 4 won 4, so I am expecting a fairly tough game.

I guess they'll come when I find out who is still not fit.
Agger and Alonso are out? Possible Torres. Any others?

Kuyt's still a doubt like Torres. We could have done with both of them being match fit too, they'd give the Toffee's a world of problems :D
And it would be nice seeing Torres play in a Premiership game too
Still, Everton have lost the last 3 out of 4, so I'm hopeful of a result...

But damn it was ugly... and ill-won. Jamie C should have been sent off plain and simple, his "management" of Lescott was shocking (especially the second time around) and how he got away with i I don't know. Stevie G certainly did seem to influence the ref, at least from the angles that we saw in the replays. Shocking win. But there's a couple of things we can take away from the game:
1) We scored all of the goals
2) Phil Neville would make a cracking keeper
3) Jamie Carragher likes hugs
Still.... we won :D

Pictures of the new stadium design released. Glad to see the comments surrounding the Kop. Full story here (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/newstadium/)
<snip images>
It baffles me as to why Liverpool released those images of the stadium, they are appalling. Many better ones now exist.
In my opinion (having seen just about every document that has been released, every image and all the architectural drawings) it's going to be one of the best stadia in the world. 78-80k seater by the time it's finished, the largest single tier stand in the world and an amazing design (although those images make it look horrible). I actually prefer the 75k seater stadium that Valencia are building, externally - but internally it's just another bowl and that wouldn't have worked for our football club.
I'll try to get some more images and information together if any of you are interested, at all?
The new owners suite/s are amazing. The changing rooms and facilities are about 5 times the size of my house and it's generally amazing.

Like so many great pieces of architecture (and this is real architecture, not the cloned bowls that have been popping up all over the place in the last decade) it has taken a while to get used to, but the way it dips it cap to the history of English stadiums and broken away from the symmetrical boredom of the new designs is very bold, it took some balls and some imagination, but they have really pulled it off.

'Oh round the fields of Anfield road where once we watched the KING KENNY play Stevie Highway on the wing we had dreams and songs to sing of the glory round the fields of Anfield road'....... What happened to all the glory of years gone by? The team who won the CL 5 times hardly has the ability to keep possession of the ball anymore. I don't recognise LFC anymore. We had the spirit , we have the talent , we had the vibe but sadly all the energy and urge to win games is diminishing from our players these days. The talent and skills are there but sadly the mind managing our team isn't. Last season rotation won us nothing yet Rafa still insists to stick to rotation even though it shatters the spirit, confidence and self esteem of our great players. I think it's time Rafa took a last look at Anfield and does the decent thing and leave . Let us start building the confidence in our team , let us start to achieve what we deserve, let us go back to the Mighty Reds days. Our glory will return when Rafa goes !

Not quite right, but close.
It's:
All 'round, the fields of Anfield road,
Where once, we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play),
We had Heighway on the wing,
We had dreams and songs to sing,
of the glory, 'round the fields of Anfield road.

What are you dribbling on about? 'These days', do you mean the last few games where we have have been out of form and have had important players missing.
The talent and skills are there but sadly the mind managing our team isn't. Last season rotation won us nothing yet Rafa still insists to stick to rotation even though it shatters the spirit, confidence and self esteem of our great players.
More crap. 2 La Liga's, 1 FA Cup, 3 European Trohpies and another European Cup final.... That's what Rafa and his rotation has done in the last 5 years.
Other teams rotate as much as us, and that's a fact. United only used a couple of less players last season and when you consider we used half the youth team in our last games, it works out less.
I think it's time Rafa took a last look at Anfield and does the decent thing and leave.
I doubt you've ever taken a real look at Anfield, but it's about time you left. You're not a supporter, your a kneejerk reactionary.
Our glory will return when Rafa goes !
That's a nerve, considering he is the one that has brought them back. You are in a long list of kneejerks that the club doesn't need supporting them.
I bet you weren't there those night Rafa masterminded wins against Chelsea, Juve, Bayer, AC Milan, Barca and I'll bet that you weren't there the night Stevie picked up the biggest prize in football in Istanbul, either.
Bet you weren't calling for his head then though. Oh no, just now after some very important players are out and we are in a run of poor form.... then you call for his head.
Rafa is a top coach and to take the club so far forward in just 3 years is brilliant. You sound like one of those Man Utd supporters that was calling for Alex Ferguson's head before he won his first title... they look a little silly now.

You are 4th in the Premiership, with a game in hand. Which if you win would take you to 3rd.
So you've had a few bad games in Europe and now it time for Raffa the Gaffa to go... some people are never happy!!!
God knows how you would cope if you supported Birmingham City (we really know how to suffer).
Oh and there is no need to mention 0-7,

Ok so we won FA cup and champions league since Rafa came but since he started the rotation experiment we have started to plummit and now we're hitting an all time low. The lack of confidence in our players (thanks to Rafa's rotation) is beginning to show and this is sending good vibes to the likes of Arsenal and Manks. E =mcsquared

Clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal have reaped the benefits of sticking by their manager in the long term, even during spells when results haven’t been favourable. Benitez’s past record demonstrates he’s a good manager and he hasn’t lost those abilities overnight, and I think that getting rid now might not be the best move. While things might not be going brilliantly at the moment the manager at least deserves the chance to show he can turn things around.
He might not have achieved the holy grail of the league title, but then again neither has any other Liverpool manger for the best part of two decades. Two major domestic cups and the Champions League since 2004 isn’t that bad a return, you know...
However, he really could do with losing the beard. ;)

Shows how much you know about the team and the manager, I guess. He has rotated for 6 years. Won massive amounts of trophies on a much tighter budget than his main rivals for domestic and european titles(Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, United, AC Milan) all using the rotation policy.
You can judge over a few games if you like, I'll judge over what he has won and how his teams have played for years.
This was posted by somone on a Liverpool forum today and was aimed at the same shortsighted argument that you are using.
The obvious answer to anyone who watches us regularly and knows ANYTHING about football is we desperately miss Alonso and Agger who are the best passers in our first chopice XI and dictate the pace and rhythm of our play. They've been missing since Portsmouth where they aggravated metatarsal injuries picked up on international duty. Couple this to the loss of Torres who is our world class outlet up front. The losses to injury of both Aurelio and Arbeloa cou0led with Agger had stripped our defence bare of all pace leaving us with a flat footed back four playing very deep. This has stretched our play with the attack/midfield/defence too far apart and it's nigh on impossible to play decent football in such circumstances as you inevitably tend to hit longer balls as you have fewer short options on.
Check out these posts, too.

Benitez renews attack on owners
Benitez has refused to back down in his dispute with the owners
Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has again risked the wrath of the club's American owners by openly questioning their transfer policy.
The Spaniard was told by club co-owner Tom Hicks to "quit talking about new players" after suggesting they were holding up his transfer plans.
But Benitez ignored that plea, saying: "They don't understand what the transfer window means in Europe. "They need to understand how difficult it is to sign players."
The rift between Benitez and Liverpool's American owners is now considered to be so deep that a report in Sunday's News of the World suggests the Spaniard will be sacked imminently, with Jose Mourinho in line to replace him.

I watched that interview and I didn't think he "attacked" the owners or even "renewed" it, all he did was explain the reasons about his previous statement.
I think he has done a lot of good for the club and should stay for a long time to come.

Yeah I saw that interview too, it's being misrepresented so that the media can have a "rift" story to publish.
Benitez isn't going anywhere, the owners know a thing or two about sports management, and they know a winner when they see one.

Good result against Porto in the end, Torres was great and Harry looked like he might actually be going to play some footie for us (provided his legs don;t fall off obviously).
We we nervous for 30 mins after the equaliser, but they folded after the second and the 4-1 was only slightly flattering against a good side.

Today marks the 20 year anniversary.
Liverpool FC TV is available free today. Hopefully those in other countries will be able to view it online here (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/eseason/LFC-TV/tv.asx).
The History channel is also showing some documentaries on the disaster later tonight.
The faces of the 96 (http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/hillsborough/images.html).
Twenty years ago today, thousands of Liverpool supporters made their way to Sheffield to watch their team take on Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi-final tie. As we all know, 96 of them never returned home.
Whatever team you support, please take a moment to remember them today.
Thanks for kind words
