New iPod 2.0 and Windows 2000/XP

Alrighty Tech heads I have a question,

I want to get the new iPod 2.0, however I read at Cnet.com windows users are going to have to wait til June for software to run the new iPod. my question is, will current software like Xplay or other 3rd Party software/hacks make this new iPod work?

I was under the impression that you could use the new iPod as a Windows user, but that you wouldn't be able to connect via USB 2.0 until June when the software update comes out.

If I'm mistaken, someone please let me know!
