I have tried the search function with no luck. When and why should I calibrate the battery? My battery discharged to 98% while the battery was plugged in. I called Apple and they said that it will never reach 100% again. The more it cycles the less the capacity is. Will Calibrating it help?
Thanks
Sean

the manual suggests that you should do the calibrating during the first few weeks of purchase of the MB/MBP

I calibrated it and ended up with the same problem, it would only read 98%. I took it to the Apple store locally, and they looked at it for about 20 minutes, and then gave me a new battery. We will see how this one works.

That's just how rechargeable batteries are. They will never reach 100% charged for their entire life. Try buying rechargeable AA batteries. Same thing...after being used for a bit they will never hold a full charge. Calibrate once a month and enjoy the computer...

mine showed 98% after calibration. but leaving it off overnight made it 100% again.

Even after mine sat overnight, it would still only read 98%. That was even after calibration!!!

I've got my MBP C2D for 7 weeks. Battery capacity used to be at 5500+. Since a day or so it is dropping, see picture.
Calibrating didn't help, charging overnight also didn't change anything.
Seems to me the battery capacity is going down rather quick, too quick if you ask me. Any ideas on what to do?
