Today sometime around 6:00pm PST, Halo3.com will officially go up and allow people to sign up for the beta.

The website only supports IE. If you try to go in with FireFox with the latest Flash, you still get a 404 error.

However, for people who are TOO lazy to wait till 6:00 PST, follow this (https://reg.msgamestudios.com/default.aspx?site=Halo3Teaser) link to sign up earlier :)

Is this the "open, but really it's closed" beta?

I don't like the sound beta either. Looks like it's just gameplay testing. Alpha testing would mean the game is about 75-100% done and they're just tweaking it. Beta? Sounds like Halo 3 fans are in for a wait :)

unless this is just some publicity stunt to get everyone excited?

1. is this a Download beta, or will they ship it?
2. is it a 360 beta or a windoze beta?

Thanks!

But Alpha releases come before Beta releases. Alpha releases in the Microsoft world tend to be internal early versions (as in *really* early, Windows Vista was still called Longhorn when it was in the Alpha phase).

Thanks!! I signed up.. You all didn't enter your xbox 360 serial number, right? I don't know if it matters, but I didn't... just wondering

God yea, what am I on about :D I swear I've been working on this unified physics engine for my game all day that it's messed my head up somewhat.

So is that the Alpha or Beta version of your unified physics engine?? Or gamma?? Delta?? Theta?? Greek letters make my head hurt. What's rather worrying is I probably write the likes of alpha, omega, pi and theta more than the standard alphabet!!

This might sound a little stupid, but if it only runs in IE what will it open in on Macs? I just installed the latest flash and the website will not open in Firefox or Safari.

I followed that link at the top and it worked for me :/ Using 10.4.8 and safari here. So...what happens after registration?

It's going quite well. In 1 evening I've managed to get inertia and it's damaging properties to the players/enemies. Can make lovely particle effects too. ah. I've missed game making. been 10 months since I last worked on something like this!

anyways. if anyone here gets onto the Halo 3 beta then you'll have to tell us about it ;) unless it's an NDA. in which case PM's will be fine.
