I am getting an Xbox 360 Premium for xmas this year and was wondering what you recommend on behalf of games. I want to get COD3 for sure, other than that what do you think? I want a racing game so maybe Need For Speed Most Wanted / Carbon. I've heard GOW is good, never played it, so what do you think?

Iv'e had my 360 for about a year now and hear are the must haves in my opinion.
Gears of War
Oblivion (if you only had one game for 6 months this is it)
Call of Duty 2 or 3 (i have 2 and it was real fun)
Fight Night
Any of the Tom Clancy games. Gost Recon, Rainbow6, or Splinter Cell. I have played all 3 and even though Ghost Recon and Rainbow 6 got a higher rating I have enjoyed playing Splinter Cell the most. That game just makes me happy I play games.
Hope this helps, Sorry I cant help you out with the driving games, I find them tedious and mind numbing.

Get Big Bumpin' from Burger King for $4.99...the online hockey is lots of fun.:D
Oblivion is an amazing-looking game, but I just couldn't get into it. I second Gears of War, it's the first game on the system that really gave me the wow factor.

I'm (probably) getting one to, so I can't actually recommend any games...however since I'm in the same boat as you, I'm starting off with Call of Duty 3, GoW, and Oblivion. I might get CoD 2 when I have some spare cash. I already have it for PC, but might be fun to play single player on the 360.

I'd say for me, the games that have really captured me are: CoD2 (I'm sure CoD3 is just as good), Ghost Recon, PGR3, Lego Star Wars II, Dead Rising, Gears of War, Fight Night 3, and Splinter Cell. Those are all really good games, I can't think of one that still isn't a good game that I enjoy.

I like to keep an assortment of game "types" to add variety and trade in any extras of the same type. This keeps my library small but varied.
One FSP (currently GoW)
One RP game (Oblivion)
One Racing game (Burnout Revenge)-although it's more of a crash/race game.
One Fighting game (Dead or Alive 4)
One Survival Horror (Dead Rising)
I'm not into Sports or Puzzle games.
I'll trade each type when a better one takes it's place.

GoW - essential
COD3 - the single player isn't as enjoyable as it's predecessors, but the online is fantastic
Rainbow 6: Vegas - improves on the GRAW blueprint further. If its a choice between GRAW and R6, get R6 and hire GRAW

Wow you all really like gears of war that much? I just bought it and yes the visuals are impressive and everything... but a third person shooter which changes to first when you zoom I find very annoying. That and you can't jump in the game... Am I the only one? Oh and the fact that really the only good guns are the ones you start off with... The assault riffle and the shotgun are the only ones I find actually useful. I think this game will make a great sequel when they fix everything I listed... Until now I feel like I've waister 60 bucks... but I suppose i am the only one that feels this way...

I bought table tennis and felt ripped off, It's a stripped down tennis game. It has no create your own character option, no other modes other than the standard tournament or VS. modes. The tournament mode goes from way too easy to way too hard way too fast and the volleys end way too quick. It's a great looking game but all the venues end up looking pretty identical. I got bored of this one within an hour or two. Definately not a must have in my opinion.
