Check out the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/)
MS has only made this Vista compatible - no Mac OS, no XP. But what would it take for someone to make Mac drivers for this thing? I love the 360 controllers and they'd be really fun to use on a Mac.

What made you think its not XP compatible? Because it actually is...
As for Mac drivers... they'll be released... eventually.

why would we even need a receiver (once the drivers come out) i mean isn't there already a IR receiver on all the intel macs (sans mac prO) or is that different.

You're thinking of the Wii triangulation system (or, quite possibly, nothing at all) - it's a proprietry 2.4Ghz system (unlike the BlueTooth Wii and PS3 controllers)

I don't think the controllers are IR, they're some kind of RF.

You're right... I mis-read something from the IGN review.

The wireless controllers arn't compatible with XP. The wired ones are but not the wireless.
Edit: Oops I didn't realize they released that adapter.

What if you use the cable for charging the controller?

It won't work. All that it is doing is sending electricity to the controller. The controller still communicates with the console/PC through wireless.

Does this mean, I can plug my 360 controller into my Apple USB Power Adapter, and have no wires between me and the Xbox?
(I have two wireless, but my wired is useless, since it can't reach my couch:p )

Do you mean the wired one or the wireless? The wired controllers send the info through the cables but the wireless ones don't.

that's a bugger. When them controllers are working on a Mac then I'd love to get one. Almost got a wired one recently, but found a lovely DS/PC controller hack which offers quasi-wireless controlling.
On a side note, the wireless 360 controller is 35 quid here, same price as the Wii controller. Wonder how they long they get away with that for...
