I love this:
Mac
Players will no longer hear any sound when they have "Enable all Sound" turned off.
Random sounds that still play when the sound is off has been a problem on the Mac since WoW 1.00, 2 full years ago. I noticed it in february 2005. Good to see they're on top of things! :p
There are two main things that would still play...the mechanical hum while in Ironforge and mob voices. Even with all the sound off you'd still hear, for example, Ragnaros's dialogue in the molten core. Doh!

I had to download the damn thing like 3 times...
Anybody else!? I had such slow speeds. I think I spent a week off and on downloading the patch.

Mac
* Added support for Multi-Threaded OpenGL on Intel Macs running OS X 10.4.8 or higher. Depending on hardware, scene and graphical settings, this can raise frame rates up to a factor of 2X.
* Improved video hardware detection and default settings, especially with Intel video.
* Vertex Animation Shaders have been disabled for systems with Intel video.
* Improved iTunes key-binding feature for smoothness and track name display.
* Fixed a bug where Tutorial Tips would not be marked as viewed correctly on PowerPC Macs.
* Fixed a rare crash bug in the audio code.
* Improved support for Weather Shaders.
* Added support for changing the mouse sensitivity in WoW. Previously, the Mac version ignored the value from the slider in the Interface Options dialog.
patch downloaded fine for me. i had it preloaded on my pc but it wouldn't work on my powerbook so i just downloaded it today, took about an hour with the downloader. now that it's better optimized for the intel macs i might have to seriously think about upgrading.
the background downloader was intentionally slow i believe as not to disrupt other internet activities (like playing WoW).

I'm looking forward to reports on the new multi-threaded OpenGL support for Intel Macs. Here's to higher framerates!

Same here. Hopefully this means I'll stay above 35-40 FPS the whole time instead of getting a few hiccups here and there.

30 minutes to go for me...
I'm hoping that this will actually push my Mac Pro!
Oh yeah - How do I enable the Multithreaded OpenGL?

As far as I know Multithreaded OpenGL is fully enabled as long as your using OS 10.4.8. I also believe that it came ready to go on all Mac Pros so you should be fine either way.

Well, the patch has been installed for me but I think my realm, Dath'Remar, isn't running at the moment so I have no idea whether performance on my Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro has improved. It's a shame really since I didn't get around to playing the game last night and it doesn't look like it will be any different tonight.

I will be very interested to see if there is a major improvement in frame rates as well.

Anyone think there will be any frame rate improvements for non intel based machines?

Possibly on dual and quad G5 systems, since multi-threaded OpenGL relies on multiple processors for improvements. I'm just not sure from the description if those improvements are in the PPC code or not.

Looks like I might be trying to use WoW on 10.4.8.
I'll post if/when I get results.

Downloading the update!
Right now, I have a constant 60fps, everything on high.
The only thing that is choppy, is when I use my heartstone...

I think it's bad for everyone. After all, WoW has to load a whole other area all at once. ;)
What was even cooler is when I flew into a city on a hippogryph, I actual was able to see the entire landing sequence. That's rare!
