None yet, but there is this jazz album I've got my eye on...

Too bad I'm such a tightwad though.

Well...
I've spend around $45 on songs so far. Wanna know why?

Because I feel that these 45 songs that I've downloaded from not quite legitimate sources in the past should be replaced with better sounding versions, and the artists that made them should be compensated for their actions and talent. If it were my music, I'd want to be paid for making it too.
I listen to them all the time. At home. At work. In the car. On the radio. I want them to make more music. So I'm supporting my entertainers, even if I haven't been so forthcoming with the cheese in the past.
My reasons for that vary, but the main gist of it is that I never wanted to pay $15 for 2 songs that I like. But I will pay $2. Fair money for fair effort.

And vniow - what the $%^&* is that avatar?

around $32. I know it would be about $150 if I went to Virgin Megastore and I'd have twice as many songs I didn't like (although it sort of impedes my ability to grow to like a song over time).

You know all the international Aussis are going to start crying about not being able to have it soon, they have on every other thread.

an interesting poll for once! You could do some revenue predictions based on those percentage results and (quite) a few assumptions. I really hope this venture is successful.

btw. I'm aussie and no complaining yet!

I've spent only one dollar. Just wanted to check out the quality.

None yet. First I have to pick out a song to try it with. Then, even if I decide I like the service, I know that I can't go wild with it, as many of the artists I like currently aren't available (like Jennifer Knapp). I guess there's always hope for the future...

$10 so far. And that's only due to a supreme effort of will. ;)

None yet, as I'm 'international'.

But I've had a browse and picked 31 songs I'd like. :p

Chris

(It's interesting to note the high percentile in the poll of international users)

About $40... I am very happy. Although, I like audible's "Library" that remembers what you have purchased, by author, and lets you redownload files. With Apple's technology, I will be backing up my purchased library today on to a cd-rw. If your HD crashes, your music purchases are history.

I haven't spent any money in iTunes, yet. But, I think that I will eventually.

I have yet to find anythign that i want on there.

Many artists i want are not there, and ones that are dont have all their albums.. .I have the albums that are there.

If apple will be nice, and listen to my requests they may have anywhere from $.99 to $50.... I'm sick of searching and sending a request.....maybe I should listen to eminem and sheryl crow?

no...I guess I'll play the waiting game...

I don't like the way the poll lumped windows users and international users together. I am an international Mac user. I am NOT a windows user.

:)

But it's probably just as well, or I would have spent $500 by now ;)

I still can't get Music Store to accept my AppleID - every time I try to buy, it inisists my info has changed and asks me to re-enter it. Apparenly, this is a common problem, as are hassles with phone numbers and an erroneous "your phone number must be 7 digits" (hint: fix it on myinfo.apple.com first)

If Apple ever get their act together it would be nice to be able to use it internationally. Given the track record of Apple though (iPhoto) I'm not going to hold my breath.

I would really like to buy some music, but haven't gotten my Mac back yet, and even if I had it right now, I still don't have broadband, and I don't think I want to wait for songs to download over dail-up. I guess I'll keep buying CDs for a while.

I think ol' Brandon here's got a point - if you've got dial-up service, then this probably isn't something you'll be interested in for a while until you decide to spend the dough and get broadband. If you try to download more than 2 songs from iTMS over dialup, you'd probably save yourself time and frustration by just going to the record store in the mall and buying what you want.

Don't have a Mac yet...

As for the AAC on a PC thing:

*sigh*

Get your act together Apple... please.

How about the nice local music store that is not in the mall?! Much more likely to find interesting, good, non-top40 stuff there. If you live in Phoenix, there is Zia Records (http://www.ziarecords.com/). Much better, and bigger, than you average mass market chain mall store. Plus they buy / trade used stuff also.

(It's a shame I moved to CT, I can still not find anything comparable to Zia...)

I haven't... but I could.

I have a tivo with the home media option. After a lot of trying, I finially found a way to have all of my music available on my stereo system. I'm not going to mess that buy by buying incompatable music just yet.

Hopefully tivo will upgrade to be compatable. But until then I'm buying CD's and ripping.

I spent $45 dollars in ten minutes on the first day, my girlfriend $50. I think now I'm upto $80, my girlfriend $90.
You save money really, because you only have to buy songs you want, not a $13.99 album with only 4 decent tracks.
I mainly bought older music, and was happy to be able to preview everything so I KNOW I'll listen to it all.

I couldn't agree more - I think if you're going to spend $ on a complete CD instead of using the iTMS, then you should support local folks, instead of the big chains. Prices are competitive, and the money you're spending stays right there in your community. In my case, one of the record stores in the mall is a local shop, so... best of both worlds, I guess. But I haven't been to the mall in about 9 months, so I'm not exactly a prime-time shopper.

1) She Who Keeps The Budget (the wife) would not approve

2) These downloads are AAC files, right? Well, after my RIF (Reduction In Force) status turns into full-fledged layoff in July, I won't have an iBook to play them on, so why bother?

(And yes, I know I could convert them to mp3s, but then I must refer you back to 1) :D )

16 songs @ $15.84.

The songs are from 14 different albums, so it would have cost me $210 or more to buy those albums just to get these few songs.

Ahhhh, Zia's. There are those here who think they've sold out, though, and only shop at Stinkweeds. And there are those who think Stinkweeds sold out, and, well, I think the buy music from bootleg concert tapes.

Zia's should be archived as one of the best things about Tempe, along with Wong's and Restaurant Mexico.

Okay, back to your regularly scheduled posts. ;)

Don't have a cd burner yet (just an old slot loading iMac G3)
So waiting until I graduate to see if I get an iPod.
If not, I will get one in June and then will probably buy alot.
I have ~600 CDs now, many I bought because of 1 song, so I am sure I will pick up many tracks.

I think I'll be spending money buying albums instead of just 1 song.
See, I only listen to classical music.
And from my experience in playing classical music, there is no bad song, there are only "songs that you can't understand" (oooooh, tricky).

Are you sure about that? I didn't even think about tax when I first purchased, but I got the invoice via email (TWO DAYS LATER!) and it had 7% Allegheny County, PA sales tax on it. From what I've heard before, Apple has a physical office in every state and therefore charges sales tax in every state. What state are you in? Maybe I'll move there to avoid sales tax on my iTMS purchases.

64 songs

And now my friends have started useing my computer to get songs. I've set up a tip jar next to my mouse pad and have already been paid over $100 from drunk people getting songs to play on my stereo like a juke box.
