Really need help with SWBF

guys i have SWBF and I have compleated the historical campains. I cannot seem to be able to choose what side I am on in instant action:( . Can anybody help me here because it would be nice to have a choice!

Once you pick your mission(s), the level loads, and you're at the character select screen, you can click the Rebel/Imperial insignia at the top-right of the screen, above the character image, to switch sides. I wondered this too for a while before stumbling on it.
