Bidding opened at $100. Who knows? You could get it for $110. (Although you'd make me sad about that.)

ill tell you right now, change your shipping costs.
someone surfing sees $50 for shipping and goes, WHOA, i dont think so.
whether they are gonna get a good deal or not, people are wary to bid when shipping costs "so much".
granted it might actually cost that much, but honestly, there are other and more efficient ways to ship such an item.
priority (possibly in an $8.10 flat rate box)
parcel post
im sure if someone wants express they will ask and pay extra for it, but dont make it the first and only visible choice.

I agree! Express mail really isn't much quicker than priority mail anyway! :)

Priority Mail is my #1 choice to send ANYTHING.
I have shipped at least 80 packages of irreplaceable paintings (my own, well a customer's) in the last year.
not a single one was lost, damaged, stolen, misplaced etc.
2-3 days domestic, great shipping times and so long as the package doesnt weight a ton, its pretty cheap too.
And seeing as how they have 4 different flat rate boxes, chances are, your item fits in it.

I appreciate the sincere advice, but that's not the shipping cost. I'm using the shipping calculator. It's weird you're even seeing $50, because I only see that number on the search results page -- where it pops up the highest shipping cost possible from the calculated rates options. On the actual listing page all I see is "Calculate" for shipping costs. And available are both USPS Express Mail *and* Priority Mail, which is about $20 cheaper with insurance and usually only one day slower, and as mentioned twice before in this thread, almost certainly the better deal. It's just not time-guaranteed, where Express Mail is and some people need that delivery time guarantee. Although I've never had a Priority Mail package arrive late. Early but never late. I'm too old to use this phrase, but I will anyway: USPS Priority Mail *rocks*, and of course I'll ship it that way if the buyer wishes. That is not a flat-rate shipping price you're seeing; you can pay less. I'll ship by camel caravan to the Arizona desert if the buyer pays for that service, insures the package to the full winning bid price, and takes total responsibility for the fact they chose to have an expensive computer shipped by beast of burden.
I can't ship it in a flat-rate box because it comes with original packaging, and that packaging is in like-new condition and the buyer is going to want it.
Also, if you were actually bidding you'd probably read the whole listing and read this: "Buyer pays winning bid price or Buy-It-Now price plus actual cost of shipping + insurance via their preferred shipping method. (I prefer not to ship UPS Ground. If buyer selects UPS Ground, buyer will assume all responsibility for shipping issues once package is in transit.) " And this, "Stated shipping costs are estimates only. I'll try to accommodate reasonable requests for alternative mainstream -- for example, Federal Express -- shipping providers and services. Contact me for fast, accurate shipping quotes tailored to your actual location and service preferences."
And, again thanking you for what I know is sincere advice, but right now the auction and bidding prices are moving along quite nicely, only 20 hours into the auction. So I don't think I'll mess with it. This PowerBook really is in like-new condition, and that can be hard to find in a portable that people have carried around, tossed into luggage, etc. -- while this particular one has had the luxury of never being moved around or mistreated.
Now go bid on it. It really will be like getting a new PowerBook. The S-Video adapter cable is still in its plastic wrap!:)

bump (yeah, I know I hate it when people do that, too, but what if someone is really in the market for one of these models and misses my notice?)
So I'll include something useful. Did you know that if you use Comic Life to make your own comic books, you can export the pages a JPEGs, import them into iPhoto, make a book out of them, you can order your own self-produced comic books/graphic novels. Great idea forlast minute, pretty inexpensive Christmas gifts that really mean something to parents, grandparents, your kids, etc. (No I don't work for Plasq, either.)

I sent your link to a buddy looking for a cheap powerbook.
Since we are bending the rules and adding comments to a FS post, I just wanted to throw in my .02$ by saying larger images are a sellers best friend. Your book looks good, but I'd want larger images to be sure... if this were me.

Thanks for passing on the link. I only use eBay when I need to sell something I have that still retains some value but I'm no longer using it. I've sold maybe 10 items in five years. So I'm a bit of a novice. I just tend to do the best I can and hope for the best price. But if your friend is interested, have him e-mail me at sanford_may@mac.com and I still have the original photos in iPhoto, so I can send him the full-resolution versions. I think eBay automatically scales photos down if you don't specify and pay extra fees, because I just picked the ones out of iPhoto and uploaded them.
