Hey guys,

I recently pulled a Samsung HD from an HP PC computer....and I wanted to swap it into a G4 Sawtooth PowerMac. I put it in, and it wouldn't install OSX cause it didn't mount.

I tried OS9.... I initialized the HD.....ran Mac OS9 installation. It setup properly. I put OSX 10.1 installation disk in the machine and it would freeze. I shut down, powered up, held down C, and an icon of a system folder would appear that's torn. I know in OSX 10.2 or below, the icon is a torn system folder.... above 10.2.8 is a stop symbol that shows no access like on the iPods.

Any ideas?

OK if you boot from your OS X CD and go into Disk Utility, you cannot see the hard drive? Or you can but you cannot format it? Or you can but... what?

I'm not entirely sure I understand. You also might want to consider finding Tiger somewhere, which runs fine on any G4 system.
