Removing white around menu bar

how do i remove the white off the menu bar on the desktop????

I know there are hacks that can. I would just turn hiding on :-)

There's a program called clear dock (http://versiontracker.com/mp/new_search.m?productDB=mac&mode=Quick&OS_Filter=MacOSX&search=cleardock&x=0&y=0) that works really well.
