Hi,

Has anyone had Powerbook G4 hinges repaired in the UK? There's loads of companies who do this in the US, but nobody seems to regularly perform this service in the UK.

Failing this, does anybody have a recommendation for an apple specific repair centres in the UK?

Any help much appreciated.

J

Where in the UK are you? There are a few official Apple stores, and alot of re-sellers as well that I'm sure would be able to help you out. The Apple store in the Bullring in Birmingham was awesome when I took my MacBook in to have my random shutdowns sorted. I took it in on Wednesday evening and recieved it back on Friday and they had had to sed it away too! Great service. If you are in the area I would recommend them. On the Apple website you can search for repair centres etc. in your area I think.

Cheers for the advice, but unfortunately Apple's "solution" to this problem is to replace the whole screen - and I might as well buy a new laptop at that point! Admittedly, removing/replacing the lcd bezel appears to be extremely difficult. However, there are a number of companies in the US who have specialised in this repair, so it's not impossible.

I have already obtained the parts so, if need be, I'm prepared to do it myself. However, if there was someone with experience, I would rather pay them to do it.

Thanks,

James

Ah right I see. Is your laptop not under warranty anymore then? If it's not, I can see why you wouldn't want to pay to replace a screen as well. If you can't find anyone to do it, I'm sure you could find a step by step guide on the net somewhere. But I agree that if you could find a proffesional to do it that would be your best option.
