can file vault do this??

i need something so that just this one folder can be password protected, like so i can put all my important files in that folder , and it may be protected, i don't need the whole comp...the extent that file fault goes to...is there anything like that , preferably free? i think for windows there is one called true crypt?..i might be wrong....anyways can file vault just encrypt a sole folder...or any other programs u guys know of?

You are looking for encrypted disk image. Check out disk utility and do a search on how to set it up.
