how do you import a selection of photos into iPhoto?

hello- i just want to import 5 photos of the 400+ i have on this camera card. is there a way i can import a selection thru iPhoto to make life easier?

Try running Image Capture instead of iPhoto.

Mount the card and pick them off in Finder. I've done that a couple of times.
