I am considering buying a 1st gen nano with a faulty screen off ebay this is because i want to use nike + ipod, but currently have a 4th gen 20bg and obviasly don't want to spend vast sums just to track my runnings.

So my question is, how difficult is it to change a screen as i was looking on a site that explained how to do it, and it looks pretty difficult and risky, especially to put back together?

New iPod nano screens run about $50, and considering you can get a refurb nano from Apple -- with warranty! -- for $89, go with the guaranteed refurb.

Naw it is a piece of cake, you can find screens on ebay for 25 dollars (that is including shipping) i fixed mine in under 5 min. the only thing is that you need to be careful with the replacement screen as the can break easily too. depending on how much you can pick up the broken ipod for, it could be a good idea
