I think it will be iPod something. Like "iPod cellular" or maybe something more like "iPod talk"

Nah. It's too long, and it doesn't blend. I think it'll be iSomething.

iPod Mobile and iChat Mobile roll off the tongue nicely.

How about just the Apple iPhone? I think that, if and when it is released, it will get more coverage that a VoIP phone from Cisco, and i think we shouldnt change what we call it. If you wanna talk about the Cisco one, say that thats what it is.

But this could cause a bit of a dillemma in some places...

iPod Mobile and iChat Mobile roll off the tongue nicely.

Sure, but I think both are kind of bad names.
iPod Mobile - The iPod is just as mobile as the iPod Mobile would be.
iChat Mobile - This would really only make sense if iChat was given some sort of phone integration, to allow you to call people on their phone lines.

It's not an iPod. It has iPod functionality.
So having an i infront of the name isn't really necessary.
It's not a mac. It's a hand held device.

I don't think it'll be any of these names.

I have a feeling it'll be something totally different and will be a new brand name in the apple world.

AirPhone or AirConnect. It would be nice to let AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express play with the other kids. ;)

There's already a product called iVoice. Its an iPod speaker similar to the Bose Sound Dock.

As for the Apple phone I kind of like iMobile.

It will take on the iPod brand or the Mac brand, none of the others like iCell (no one in europe calls it a cellphone, over here it is a mobile) or iCall, iTell will have a chance.

iZune.

Since no one has ever bought a Zune there won't be any legal problems.

How bout' the pPod? (p=phone)

Good thinking, keeps the iPod theme but differentiates it by virtue of the p which in itself stands for the phone part.

This gets my vote, very clever and very subtle.

It's not an iPod. It has iPod functionality..

How do you know?!!? maybe it's an iPod with phone functionality (whatever the hell that means).

It makes perfect sense that they'll call it iPod Mobile or iPod Dial or something like that.

How about if they made it the old brick style cell phones and call it the iZachMorris? Or they make is like the old star trek things where they tap their pins on their chest (thats what they did, right? I never really watched it though) and call it the iTrek.
Also,
iTalkie
iCellie

Well they could go along the lines of LG's chocolate and call it apple. Though this could get confusing Apple's apple...

Or they could go along the lines of motorola's Q and just call it a letter.

I like iComm for some reason, not exactly sure why. Doesn't really sound like a good product name per say (more of a company name or something) but it just rolls off the tongue nicely.

In honesty almost all of those names sound terrible to me, how about let's just wait and see if it exists and/or ever gets released by Apple before we try to seriously "call" the name :p

Can I vote for none of the above?

Well, you can, but the point is to come up with a new standard for referring to Apple's phone product, since it will now be confusing to use the iPhone moniker.

it's still the iPhone. The iPhone wasn't the name of the product, it was the name of the idea. the idea is a moble phone made by apple which syncs perfectly with OS X. the concept was nicknamed iPhone so that you don't have to type a mobile phone made by apple which syncs perfectly with OS X. The idea is still the same, so the name should stay the same. iPhone is still iPhone.

I think we all get the premise that it was never to be called the iPhone in the first place. I think somewhere Apple (Steve maybe, even) said that wasn't its name. But now, because of Cisco, and for the reason purely of symantics it is best, I believe, to give the as-yet-to-be-realeased product a new name.

MacPhone & MacPhone Pro

So uh... use that name. Or something... if you want to.
