I recently purchased two copies of Age of Empires 3 to play on a LAN at my house with a Powermac G5 and a Macbook Pro. Whenever the two machines join each other in a multiplayer game, be it autodetected or direct IP LAN or GameRanger, the non-host machine seems to hang at the "Connecting" screen for the game.
I've tried disabling both Little Snitch and the Mac OS X firewall on both computers and still have the same issue. I'm thinking it may be an issue with the way our network is arranged, because either of the computers individually can play on GameRanger against internet players with no issues.
The G5 is on a Linksys 16 port hub attached to the second ethernet port of an Airport Extreme wireless router. The Macbook Pro is connected to that router's wireless network. However, the LAN IP of the G5 is 192.168.1.6 whereas the Macbook Pro's IP is 192.168.1.101. This seemed sort of odd, but I'm not tremendously experienced in networking.
If anyone has some tips for configuring AOE3 to LAN, I'd greatly appreciate the help.
