Want to buy a hard drive to back up my Mac and use as a photo storage unit.

I've got a 60Gig G4 running dual processors at 867Mhz.

I've got plenty of internal bays open.

Should I go internal or external?
What size is adequate?
What else do I need to know?
What brands are crap and which are best?

Thanks,

Jeff

internal is going to be a lot cheaper than external.

Adequate size? Depends on your need. 120GB have come down nicely in price, but there are 200 and 250GB drives out there if you need big storage space.

There is a Firewire 800 drive out there that is really tempting me...

you can get an 80 gig for 100 bux now well usually after rebate but stil 100 bux. don't buy IBM tho, they break down.
I recommend Western Digital or Maxtor. Both work very well and are pretty quiet-or at least I think. In my PC i have the 80 gig WD with 8mb cache
