I kinda doubt the benchmarks are real, but I *hope* they are...

I hope that they are real too, but I am not sure.

I think the benchmarks are real for one big reason...

If they aren't, these guys will have absolutely no credibility ever again. With something as pivotal for the Mac platform as these new processors seem to be, I doubt MacBidouille would risk that.

In the immortal words of Arnold Judas Rimmer, "That's the metaphorical equivalent of flopping your wedding tackle into a lion's mouth and flicking his love spuds with a wet towel." :D

That's what I thought. If they screw this up they might as well shut down.

remember SpyMac. the creators of the biggest mac fraud ever, and now living off that fraud happily with tons of people who love the site.

Tough to say here, they almost seem too good to be true and there have been a lot of rumors coming from that site lately that seem like a lot of wishful thinking (ever notice that all the news about supposed Apple/Motorola lawsuits has only come from that one site for example?) and now we're seeing all this 970 stuff that seemingly came out of nowhere and all from this one site with just a so-so track record, I would very much like these benchmarks to be true but I'm skeptical about all this....

Didn't the guy who sent the photos on the new PowerMac end up being sued by Apple for violating his NDA (well a lot more than slapped by the legal dept)...

If it's real -- all this info seems to be almost as big an NDA violation, while falling short of publishing photos and/or diagrams on the site.

After the nuke Apple dropped the last time, why would anybody be willing to wave the "Sue Me" flag?

Never stopped a rumor site before.

Remember Spymac and the iwalk.

Macwhispers making a guarantee that there would be new ipods on a specific date

Macwhispers saying absolutely no new ipod case.

macOSrumors..... where do i even start.....

Seems only thinksecret and macrumors have decent accurracy ratings. And if either of these sites has no such information then I just don't buy it.

I feel certain that the benchmarks are not real.

but...

I also feel certain that the performance gain with the 970 WILL be nearly as dramatic as the benchmarks show.

For Apple's sake the 970 better be all that and more. I for one have waited long enough and can hear the darkside calling.

Undecided! Guess we will know for sure in 6 weeks!;) I hope they are right for the future of Apple, in the end all you really are is your credibility!

I don't think so. It looks good, tough :)

Despite everything that's been said (including some fairly compelling arguments for them being fake), I remain firmly in the 'undecided' catagory. And, in any event, even if they are fake, most people acknowledge that true benchmarks will likely look very much like these. So, I ask you, if they're fake but they still accurately represent the performance of the 970, does it matter that they're fake?

I generally think the benchmarks are untrue even though it would be nice to see such dramatic improvement.

There are some general problems with the benchmarks that signal some doubt. Assuming that there isn't a 50% improvement in the clock-cycle to instruction execution ratio, the improvements have to come from some where. I give on a little benefit to a better processor, maybe even a little more to some pre-emptive executions, but not that much.

The benchmarks that are shown would require programs optimized for the new processor or an improved memory/CPU interface. Any of this seems unlikely at this point.

Of course, I am as willing as the next person to be surprised.

Hope is more like a wish... where as thinking is more along the lines of believing.

I hope for many things that I don't think will happen.

naw--apple is too good at keeping secrets to let [i]benchmarks[/] slip through we'll just have to wait for the truth
