office language/ german dictionary/wörterbuch?

OK. I am trying to do my german homework (language req needed to leave davis) on word and have no idea how to change word into german mode. I tried to change the language in the menu tools menu, but see no change. DO i need to DL a german dictionary? If so, someone wanna point me in the right direction?

Please help. I am in my last quarter @ davis. FOr my German 003 class we have to write essays and a german spell check would be great.

I wouldnt think that a version of word bought in the US would come with german language pack.

Just copy-paste to Text Edit and use the Mac OS X spell check... it's actually pretty good.
Concerning Office: I have the US and the German version installed, because the dictionary is somewhere in the Application... so no international support at M$.

I have all the updates and the MS website is useless (for my PC too).
So far I found ObjectFarmSpell_0.9.1b.dmg on version tracker. It adds like four languages to the OSX Dictionary. After installing it (and swithing to german as the language in word), I was able to spell check my german. It however did not add the grammer check. I think I will have to see about getting the german version of word pretty soon. THanks for the responses and if there are more suggestions out there, keep them coming.

Hmm, I think you should be able to do this with what you have. I have just the American version of Word but I also have spellcheck in several languages. It may be that I selected an option for them when I was installing the application.

If you have the Office Install CD, check on that. I think there's an 'Extras' package or some such. (I can't find mine, or I'd tell you for sure.) If there isn't an Extras package, try a reinstall of the application and see if there's an option somewhere on the line for foreign language dictionaries. I really think you can do this without spending any more money.

Yeah, you can actually set your dictionary to German in the US Word... but as sonn as you write something in German, it'll tell you it's wrong, suggesting some other English words... don't know why, but hey, it's M$.

This is exactly what was pissing me off as the page was almost impossible to read. But the program I got (look in post a couple up) was free and worked as a german dictionary for word, you just dont get the grammer help like normal.

Funny, OfficeX should work. When you install just make sure you install all the German stuff. I think you have to quit then restart word for it to reconize the changes.

Oh, I see... ValuePack, mmhh... but the app will be still in English, right?
I know, I'll always find something to complain... but why can't M$ just make one stupid version, i mean, they have to do all the extra programming... oh, well.

The app might still pop up in English, but OSX has multi-language support so I don't know. I haven't tried changing the default language in International under SysPrefs.

Yeah, it is in English, I'm running it right now... but that's M$'s, not Apple's fault.
