Videos - Wii Media Center X lets you stream and watch videos in the Flash video format (FLV) on your Wii. You can download flash videos from many places on the internet or create your own using Wii Video 9.

Music - Wii Media Center X lets you playback MP3s on your Wii without the need of an SD card.

Pictures - Red Kawa Media Center lets you view pictures on your Wii without the need of an SD card.

Files - Wii Media Center X lets you browse your files located on your server.

Is this the freeware answer for the Wii to the whole Media problem? I've downloaded it, but I'm having trouble installing it..terminal is acting up, or maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

If someone downloads it, and gets it up and running tell us what you think

From the looks of it Music and Slide shows don't work on the Wii...
Slideshow and Music functionality are still not working on the Wii or PS3. Since the Wii does not support LiveConnect (Javascript -> Flash communication) the whole Music app is useless on the Wii. Music playback will be possible in the future but it will take a lot of time to re-design the app from scratch. Getting slideshows working isn't a priority at the moment.

That makes it useless for me (basicly):D

Sounds cool but I will wait for others to install it and review it...I can't afford messing around with the thing. So although people were saying they only want a gaming system they are still trying to get the whole bag huh...thats geeks for you;)

In their forums the devs say they are working on getting it working so the good news is that maybe wii will have a functioning wii media center in a few months....:D

I really would like to see something like Connect360 that streams directly to a webpage that can be viewed on the Opera browser but that may be asking too much...

Ideally it would transcode your media files to the correct formats on the fly similar to transcode360...

I like the direction the Wii is going. That sounds like a nice feature and the addition of the Wii Opera browser is great! I'll wait and see how that media center works out before I try it.

console + added dev cost for Media Centre = Price more.
console + homebrew Media Centre = No difference in price.

Homebrew has always interested me on the Wii. All that potential with the controller and ease of hacking. Might be fun :D

Except if that homebrew bricks your system then you end up with just that...a brick.

A Pro/con to everything jimmi old boy.:)
