DVD widescreen on 17"PB?

I was wondering if there is any way to extend the dvd movie all the way to the sides and actually take advantage of the widescreen on the 17"PB?

It is in widescreen mode but it's about 1.5" away from the edge on the sides.

Are you using the apple DVD player? I can't get that to expand the picture in fullscreen mode - if you cmd-3 the screen, it'll fill up, but you will get the toolbar etc still. VLC will stretch it out (though you will still get top and bottom black bars as the 17" display is more 16:10 than 16:9)
