What does IPv6 do and should i leave it on

I was just playing around with network preferences and noticed the IPv6 section. I heard a while agao that leaving this function off is wiser than leaving it on.

I wanted to ask what it does and if i should leave it on.

PS i have a 802.11B Router.

Because of the growing amount of computers and servers, and fear of not having enough IP addresses in the not so distant future, IPv6 was rolled out.

As to whether you can leave it on, it's a bit buggy and not implemented by all ISPs. Most likely leaving it on will be fine, but sometimes it can break your internet connection. Of course, turning it off immediately remedies this and it's pretty rare in the first place. 🙂

Whilst my ISP supports it (i see some readings when i turn it on), i've decided to turn it off. Just to be safe.
