Hi,

I'm looking into buying a new iMac with a 2.16 Ghz processor and upgrading to 2 GBs of RAM. I'm a composer and just bought a big orchestral sound pack that takes up 36 GBs of hard drive space, and recommends 1.5 GB of RAM. I have a lot of tracks going, but not a ridiculous amount. I currently own a G4 1.8 Ghz powerbook with 1 GB of RAM, and it's really struggling, so I need to upgrade. The MacPro is of course my dream computer, but it's definitely pushing the limit on my budget. Will the iMac be good enough, or should I put every penny towards the MacPro?

The iMac is definitely fast enough. For Logic use you'll find it a world away from your PowerBook G4.

I would recommend that you configure (or upgrade) your iMac with 2GB of RAM.
