Hi Everyone. Not looking to sell my iMac, just curious to see what current market prices would be because I can't get a clear cut price off of eBay Completed Listings. Here are the specs:
17'' iMac G5 (ALS Model)
1.8Ghz PPC G5
1Gb RAM (Apple Installed, 1x 1Gb Stick)
Combo Drive
160Gb HDD
AppleCare till May 2008
OS X Tiger
iLife 05
The thing is in basically mint condition. As I said, not looking to sell but just wanted to see what the current market prices are on it.
Thanks

Based off of eBay and CL, I'd say around $775 shipped. (ie this ebay auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/APPLE-IMAC-G5-17-WIDESCREEN-1-9GHZ-1GB-160GB-HD-10-4_W0QQitemZ220059963036QQihZ012QQcategoryZ86702QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)from 2 weeks ago with exact same specs, warranty, etc.)

I bought mine for $900 shipped from another MR user (private sale, not eBay) about a year ago... it's also an ALS, but it's 2.0 GHz / 1.5 / Superdrive, but no AppleCare. I also saw someone recently post a CD iMac 17" for $900.
I'd say the $775 is not unreasonable on eBay, though. Probably about $700 flat direct person-to-person sale.

True, I was thinking that $775 is what he could expect on the very high side. $700-750 is probably the more accurate ballpark.

Ok, that is pretty much what I expected. Sometime in the future I might be looking to trade for a PowerBook g4. Do you think that would be an even trade? (For a PB with similar specs.. prob. a 15''+ LCD)
Thanks Again

If you expect an external LCD in the trade, it would have to be a pretty old 15" powerbook. If it were one of the later models (the "HD" ones), then it's probably more like you'd have to throw something in on your side than the other way around.

Oh no. I meant a 15'' or larger (+) LCD size. :) Does that clear it up?

:D
Gotcha, sorry. :o
Answer's still the same... the iMac is pretty fast compared to a lot of those powerbooks, but it started its life out at a much lower pricepoint. So it would either have to be a relatively old PB15" or you would have to throw money in. Dunno... but anyway, good luck! :)

I just realized the Apple Refurb. MB is only $799. If I ever do sell, that looks very appealing.
