Hi Guys,

I'm looking to purchase a Mac Pro, and was just wondering if anyone here has tested a Quadro FX 4500 graphics card (Mac Pro build) with Windows XP sp2 under Boot camp?

I have read a couple of reviews where the Quadro FX 4500 was said not to be performing at it’s full potential on the PowerMac G5, and would be interested to know if the card's performance is hindered in anyway on the Mac Pro?

I was hoping to run AutoDesk Maya on Windows XP under boot camp, as a native Intel Mac version is not yet available.

I did think about the possibility of utilizing a pc version Quadro card, but don't want to run into any hassles on the osx side of things.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

you are right to worry about this. make sure you get the card that is apple compatible or you will be out of luck. there really aren't any cheaper 3rd party options for the quadro fx 4500, you might as well order your mac pro configured with it and save some hassle.

the quadro will work fine in xp.

Thanks for the reply.

The other issue I was unsure on is which drivers to install to get the best out of the Quadro under Windows.

Are Quadro 4500 drivers provided by Apple through Boot camp for Windows use, or would it be better to install the native pc drivers provided by Nvidia?

I believe they're provided by Apple, but Nvidia might have a more up-to-date version.
