So Few months ago i posted a request to find out what would be the best software outthere that would save me from the annoying "Scratch/artifact" sound i got by ripping my cds lately... thinking this was some protection on the CD.
After a few tries, i now think that the protection has nothing much to do with Apple/iTunes but much more with my hardware (charlotte iMacG5)...
Some albums that are having problems are reported to work fine with plenty of other people (e.g. Love-Beatles)
I did go and bought some lense cleaner (cd with brush) but without much success.
Anyone outthere have some tips (buying an external cd drive?? Opening charlotte and vacuming? Killing my cats that are loosing their hairs in my appartment? anything else)

In iTunes, do you have error correction turned on? It can even make a difference with "good" discs and readers.

Yop and my discs are clean... i'm a bit maniac and don't let fingerprints on them... and kill anyone who dare to leave some on them (of course this is exagerated... there has never been any bodies found)

No, what bother me is that it seems that the more the time goes the more scratchs i get... and that is not dependant of the release year of the album.
