I have some footage of a dialogue with a lot of ambient noise from traffic. Is there a way to reduce this to make the voices sound louder?
I have Final Cut Express (with soundtrack), Audacity, no budget and less than 2 days. Can anyone give some suggestions?

nope.
thats the short answer.
heres a longer one.
you can try to find some filters that can boost the dialogue or others to drown out the ambient, but you cant truly get what youd want out of this im afraid.
its better to shoot it over again, if you can.

If you can get ahold of soundtrack pro there is a feature which allows you to make a noise print of the traffic sound and then reduce it down to a more moderate level.

I don't know if it will work for your case, but Audacity has a noise removal feature, I'd try that.

You should try downloading the free "soundbooth" beta from adobe. Ive read that it has a similar feature as the soundtrack pro sound removal feature.
