5 on red, 10 on black

My brother wants me to come to the casino with him, right now.

He's got this idea with Roulette where I put $5 on red and he puts $10 on black, and no matter the outcome (unless it lands on the green - rare) worse case scenario we break even, best case we are up $15.

Obviously, if this works, we will be using much larger numbers. :D

I can't find a flaw in this aside from the slight risk of hitting green. Someone tell me why I should go do this right now.

beacuse the 0 and 00 are not that rare and give the casino an advantage of more than 5%.

Make sure you can afford to lose those much larger numbers. The green is still up there.

Trust me, all the games in a casino aren't there to make money from - the odds are always against you. And plus, this is so simple, do you really think you'd be the first person to think of such a scheme? :p ;)

The sums are wrong

You are betting 15 per game
If it's red you lose 5 (10 payback for 15 stake), whereas if it's black you win 5 (20 payback for 15 stake). If it's green you lose 15.
You will lose on average.

haha. based on how obvious the flaw was in the plan.... i'd recommend against betting ANY money on ANY thing for both you and your brother. ;)

Haha.... some people did this on the TV show "Las Vegas". Two brothers basically bet large amounts; one on red and one on black. The idea wasn't to win money. The idea was to break even. The scheme though was to have the casino think they were betting high so the casino would give them free room, dinner, etc for being high rollers. :)

Didn't work of course... it's TV land!
