HD format

ok so i just switched to mac and am selling my windows laptop... i have the old HD because i put a different one in the windows. i want to use my old HD as a backup and scratch disk but it is formatted in NTFS. Is there any program i can download that will let me change the format to FAT16 without wiping the HD? Thanks guys

it's a 100g HD... what format do i need to format for the mac to write to it?
