The iPhone looks a whole lot like my Newton MP2100..

The huge screen taking up the entire device with only a few buttons on the hardware, dynamic interface controlled entirely by touch, (debatable) Desktop class applications, etc..

Anyone else think that maybe the iPhone is Apple's resurrection of the Newton, just without the handwriting tech.?

Well, it is an Apple PDA, if that's what you mean.

They do need to open up development to 3rd parties, but assuming that, this is a truely killer PDA... You can finally upgrade your MP2100 :D

Only thing that'll get me to ditch my Newt is if the iPhone has its killer handwriting recognition, the handy Assist feature, and becomes open to outside developers.

I know they're both PDAs, but when they announced the iPhone, my first thoughts were "Hey, it's a shiny Newton with a phone inside!"
