OK, I can't decide between these to laptop cases. I want a messenger bag so I can carry a few books or maybe a light coat, and my macbook. They are both about the same price. Any preferences?

My vote goes to the Timbuk2, I've had a few of those over the years and they are bullet proof and their laptop compartment is great and if you don't want to get a messenger bag with a built in compartment you can always get a bag and add a laptop sleeve, very nice and can be used without lugging around the messenger bag.

I think the brenthaven looks better, but i havent used either one.
Although the Timbuk2 doesnt look bad i just don't care for the orange.

I'm leaning towards the Timbuk2 now. It has more space and I like that there's some color on it.

They are both about the same price. Any preferences?FYI: Apple store links won't work after a little while...

I'd go for Timbuk2 myself, but I'm biased-- I've got two of their bags, a wallet, and a laptop sleeve from them. ;) I noticed you're in Canada, you can frequently find Timbuk2 bags for cheaper from other retailers/ e-tailers. Especially if you don't mind other colors (and "out of season" colors).

Just one quick example I've found (I've even made sure they ship to Canada and took a quick screen shot of the shipping rates for you): Link (http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=47850296&parent_category_rn=12353603) to bag from REI.com.

Quick little shots of the three colors for $79.93USD:

Hi. I've got the Brenthaven Metro bag, and I think it's great. If you're worried about protecting your computer, I'd go for the Brenthaven bag. Brenthaven's bags have some of the best protection I've seen in bags in that price range. There won't be as much space in the Brenthaven bag as in the Timbuk2 bag, because the laptop compartment takes up more space, but you can remove the laptop section if you need more space.

I went for the Timbuk2 Laptop Messenger Bag from the apple canada store. The price was a bit higher than other e-tailers, but it was in Canadian dollars and included free shipping. The Brenthaven bag just looked to small for my needs.
