Holy hell that is the single worst idea I've ever seen. Have 2 completely different sides of the phone do 2 completely different things, yet you still have to manually switch between the two with a toggle switch?!

Plus the spokesperson couldn't even figure it out at one point.

I'd say the LG KE850 (http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/11/iphone-and-lg-ke850-separated-at-birth) is closer to the iPhone then that Samsung monstrosity.

And the swivel stand.. handy, sure.. but maybe a bit fragile?
For the rest.. too cluttered.. and using 2 sides is not what I call handy..

Oy. Somebody needs to learn how to de-interlace video before they upload it.

There is a reason it's cheaper, it's difficult to use most certainly.

The guy is an idiot obviously. He is basically looking for any excuse to say Samsung is better than Apple. I do give him credit for admitting his argument was slanted in Samsung's favor, but his technique was not effective.

the only big leap apple brought to cell phone market is complete touch screen, i guess somebody will follow, altho the expense for touch screen right now probably still too high.

The Samsung devices are pretty cool. Unfortunately, they had the bad luck to announce it in the same week that Apple announced the iPhone, which is at least an order of magnitude cooler.

If the Samsung phones were released two weeks ago (or if the iPhone would have been released two weeks from now), I think people would be very pleased with them. But because of Apple's timing, all the press will be comparing them to the iPhone, and it can't really win there (unless it ends up selling for around $200, which would surprise me.)

I wonder: does Apple have any influence over when MacWorld runs their expo? I seem to remember it not sharing the week with CES in the past. It just seems too fortuitous to be coincidence that Apple announces the iPhone at MacWorld at the same time everybody else is announcing their new phones at CES.

They have that sort of influence. They killed the east coast MacWorld conference.

I saw that the CES people were talking about moving their dates to avoid MacWorld, probably because people at CES were using any web browser they could find to see what was happening in San Fran.
