Time Machine

why not just have a browse around here (http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/index.html) to see all of the things for yourself.

Spaces - multiple desktops (like virtuedesktops)
Timemachine - intuitive backup
Resolution independence - things are bigger, but not blurrier
Secret features...
Boot camp (not beta)
(Probably new version of) photobooth, front row
Core animation

Jaguar (Mac OS X 10.2) supposedly had 129 features for its $129 price. Maybe Leopard will have the same number.

Of course, the number of interesting features is always less!

Tiger was a much better deal with over 200 features for the same price of $129.

I think the Spaces thing will be pretty cool.
Will my iBook G4 handle Leopard ok? I upgraded the memory to 1GB.

I doubt my Mac will be able to handle Leopard :(

Leopard will be different in that it will require:

1) Exclusive 2 year Cingular service contract
2) It won't do any VOIP because Apple wants to force you to use Cingular
3) And it will not play any video unless it's purchased from iTunes

It seems like steve has turned to the dark side. He and Apple now seem to be working for Cingular and Disney. So sad :( So sad :( So mad:mad: So mad:mad:

I can understand the Disney affair, but what's the deal with Cingular?

Take it up with Steve Jobs. This is a thread about Mac OS X 10.5, not the iPhone.

I understand that Leopard will give the Finder a mayor facelift, not just visually. A new UI is supposed to be due as well, more unified than Tiger

Yep, what graphics card do you have? If it's the 9550 you'll get all the fancy eye-candy too. If it's an earlier build everything will still work but it won't be as flashy.

What will be new?

Not to be a complete dick...but have you thought about maybe checking out a little website called apple.com? I'm sure you might be able to find SOMETHING on there about it.

Everyone hopes Finder will get a facelift...

No hard info on the subject either way. People were kind of wanting to get details about Finder and the UI at MacWorld.

OS X isn't like Windows, where a new version needs 10X the hardware to run. Get out of the Windows mindset...you have a Mac. :)

With each OS update (10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4) OS X has run faster and faster, especially on new hardware.

Only OS X was slower than OS 9 it replaced.

After switching recently, I can tell you one MAJOR advantage Windows has over the Mac is that Windows Explorer has a "move up a level" button.

It can't be that hard for Apple to do it if it's been in Windows for years

Safari will be snappier. Guaranteed.

Mac has it too

Cmd-UpArrow does the same thing as well.

What I'd REALLY want to see is a preference you can set so Finder displays the full path of the current folder you are in.

Kinda confusing when you are looking at two "Preferences" folders on two different folders and not knowing which is which.

See that little folder icon at the top of each window? Hold down the Apple (command) key and click on it.
Or... under the view menu, use customise toolbar to put the path icon in there.

pop art doesn't work right if u click on it more than once and it is very buggy; your video stream disappears and it closes

ichat is extremly slow, but there are at least 5 new compositions; ill show u the compositions picker;the only problem is that it cannot show the preview for the individual composition

if someone thinks that something new is rumoured tell me ill check and post a screenshot

uhhh, that's one heck of a fanboi statement

It's been 5 years since MS released a new OS. Tell me, has Apple upgraded their OS to such a level that requires some relatively hefty hardware upgrades to get ALL the features over the past year?

Answer: yes they have and I sure hope so. Things change in that long of a time (it's computer time). They (MS and Apple) need to push the envelope a little with all the flashy things. The core still will work for older computers, but to get the most effect, you need recent hardware.
