I had a gull which gives 100% magic find... what does that do?

I didn't find much magic items with it.

Every character has a specific chance to find magic items. I think sorceresses have the best. Don't know how much it is exactly, but guess it's around 2-4%. Now when you have an item with +100% magic find, it doubles your basic chance to find something, not giving you a 100%-chance, but in this case 4-8%.

While i'm playing DIablo 2 in OS 9, 5-10 minutes into the game the screen goes black. It doesn't shut down but it just goes black all of a sudden... why is that?
