Does anybody have a really good quality file of Ben Gibbard playing "Such Great Heights" on acoustic? I've found some on YouTube that aren't so great and one from the Bowery Ballroom but I was looking for a better quality file.

Anybody?

So you want a music video? Or the song itself? I believe the song is on the Garden State soundtrack. Good album.

No just an MP3 file of a live performance that is good quality. The Garden State version is played by Iron and Wine if I remember correctly.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but I've been looking for the acoustic version of Brand New Colony (played on the same set as such great heights). If anyone has that MP3, I will be forever grateful.

And if, for some reason, this is illegal, I apologize.

I have an alright quality file of that song but you can tell it's recorded from out in the audience. Still a nice listen. I don't think it's illegal at all.

Look up the Bowery Ballroom + Ben Gibbard on google and you should find the show fairly easy.

Yes, the Garden State version is played by Iron & Wine.

I've got the SGH, TDSAT, and WWBS singles if you're looking for anything on there.

Daniel.

EDIT: Actually, I believe those three singles are up on the iTS now. I had a hell of a time tracking them down before they appeared on there. :(

Actually I'm just specifically looking for Ben playing a live version of the song. It's so strange how the PS version of the song can give one "feel" of the song and then the acoustic can just totally change it up.

I almost prefer the acoustic over the original. Maybe that's just from hearing it so much though? Anyways, if you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and look it up on YouTube. It's beautiful.

I think for me, the acoustic performances add beauty because they focus on the meaning of the song... the heart of the song... the lyric. As poetic as songs are, the beauty of lyrics can get masked with catchy beats and synthesizers. If you mask the heart of the song, you mask its beauty.

Personally, I didn't notice how well brand new colony exemplified love for another until I heard the acoustic set. It's truly about giving your all to that other person... for their benefit. I didn't catch it all the way with The Postal Service. I got it with Gibbard, though (and have since learned to play it).

Great stuff, isn't it?!

Makes me appreciate both versions after hearing an acoustic set of the same songs. Brand New Colony is such a great song. The best part is when Ben says "I'll be the phonograph that plays your favorite albums back, as your lying there, drifting off to sleep"
The synth in the back compliments it so well.

Man, I really want another PS album soon!
