here's another shameless attempt to promote some work I've done recently.;)

here's the link: http://www.icompositions.com/music/song.php?sid=54515 you'll need the latest Quicktime version to listen to it.

I borrowed the spoken word work of a fellow member in iComp and came up with that.

as usual, comments are appreciated.

Hello there, mannix87. Very nice song.:)
I've always enjoyed spoken words over music. Keep up the good work.:D

hey thanks guys! I'm actually working on another collab w/ ms cowe. we'll see how that goes. EP? I have other stuff that I've done w/c I haven't posted out of fear that my ideas will get stolen or I just don't feel confident enough that it's acceptable. as a musician, sometimes you get so immersed in what you're doing you get "tunnel vision" that you begin to think that it's good enough when in fact it actually sucks. so you need to have it validated by any means possible, including posting here in MacRumors.:D

I know that feeling. I've got five or six songs that I have recorded on Logic Express and they are sitting on my playlist on iTunes. Most people have never heard them. But I'm looking into copyrighting the songs I've done and if that goes well, I will definitely put the songs out for public approval.

Nice background, just two comments:

1) You need a new reader. Her voice is just not the right tone and articulation (or voice acting) for music and this topic. Try someone with a bit more bass or resonance.

1) Why this poem? Its probably the last topic I would ever want to listen to set to music. I guess, if this had to be set to music, I would drop the drums and stick with more of the flowing, ambient music, a la Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume II (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&token=ADFEAEE57D1CD94EA57320C7943545C7BB64F302FE4BF59A1321435992B63E45910B7AE84CE58C8FB3B677AB7BB0FD 2EA45D43D2CBE457FED666382DED93&sql=10:k060tr8lkl3x) [AMG].

You've got a good clean vamping style, branch out into other...er...stuff for the foreground.

the poem? well, the idea for the music (er, background) came up first before I ran into her work :) and I was getting tired of hearing comments from friends/colleagues that I should consider some vocals for my work which up to this point had mostly been instrumental. So I checked if it would fit (rythmically as opposed to topic/theme-wise). plus, Ms. Cowe was kind enough to lend me her work.

thanks for the comments! :)
