View Full Version : Adobe (Macromedia) Studio 9?

With all this buzz surrounding Adobe CS3 release I've been wondering when will the universal versions of Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks etc. arrive? Has anyone heard any rumors? I'd also like to know if Adobe will kill Fireworks in favor of Imageready, as it did with Freehand.

According to rumours, the reverse will be true. ImageReady will be swallowed into Photoshop and Fireworks given a whole new lease of life. Expect it with the rest of the CS sometime before mid June, I would have thought.

Flash, Dreamweaver and Fireworks will become a part of CS3... I just recently saw a presenter from Adobe that had Fireworks CS3 installed on his computer

someone tell me what Fireworks is truly for anymore?

Am i wrong to assume its just a vector based html/table slice machine?

Yes you're wrong.

Fireworks (and more so the new version) incorporates some raster and vector features from PS and Illustrator. The next version will include the features of Imageready.

I used to use Fireworks purely only for compressing web graphics, the reason is that I feel it has a better compression rate and quality for jpeg and gif over photoshop (even with the save for web function). Other than that, I rarely use it for image manipulation as it has limited capabilities over photoshop.

I have to agree. I have both at work, and Fireworks produces much better results with the drawings I work with.

Fireworks is a handy tool for compression of images and it has some useful functionality though limited as it is. I only use it for slicing and compression and the odd time to make buttons and simple effects.
