How old is the iPod.

If you're referring to the OP, she's my Mom (I told her to come here, because ya'll are so helpful), and I just got it for her for Christmas ... an iPod Nano I think.

[She's EST and asleep right now.]

She was working in iTunes and then her PC went nuts, started making weird noises, so she shut the PC down and disconnected the iPod.

Now the iPod is locked up, and she can't get it to shut down.

Hope this helps.

HUGz! Jules

I would suggest just set the iPod down and let the battery die. That should free it up from any thing that is keeping it trap.
It a flaw in the programing for the iPod that I know dates back to the G4 iPods. My G4 has done it a few times always on a force disconnect of some type. when ever it happen I would just leave the ipod on the shelf and let the battery die. after that it would reboot and work fine.

This happened to me the first day I got mine on Christmas. If you toggle the hold switch and then press the Menu and the center button at the same time it will reset.

Thanks to all of you for your help and suggestions.
I left the iPod as it was and called it a night. This
morning it was okay. Maybe it just needed a good
night's sleep!!!
Thanks again.

Sounds like letting the battery run down did the trick.
